Tonight we learned of the passing of Apple magnate Steve Jobs… a mega-entrepreneur and developer of a myriad of useful and fun products, concepts and gadgets. Some argue he ranks among such greats as Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and Henry Ford in his contributions to the lives of us all. But we must also remind ourselves he was also a mega-billionaire, and as such (taking account my “progressive” President’s recent arguments) we must also ask did Steve Jobs pay his “fair share”, and maybe since he was a billionaire… we should just hate him?
You nailed the problem, sarcasm or not. With all the banana republic corruption that we've got at all levels of government, in all three branches, some still hang to the fantasy that their SaintCandidate can roll back the government, make the 7 out of 10 richest counties in the country around D.C., make them the poorest counties, that this Saint, Sarah, Cain, Perry, or whoever, can liquidate federal departments, like Ronald Reagan liquidated the Energy Department, as he had promised, that the future belongs to politics.
Ef politics! It's people like Steve Jobs and Keith Richards who make positive difference in our lives!
RIP Steve, and thank you.

My rejection is of the whole airhead cult thing, Ikotex, pads, whatever the orgasm of the month is. Will leave it at that, mac cultists know what I am talking about, but as I mentioned, a certain freeper thinks he has special status and protection, so I cannot even say "Sorry, I can't use a Mac, I am not ....." without threats from certain members.........
Beyond that, I have no need for music downloads (why download garbage?) or watch much of any recent movies, that I gather are using some sort of apple influenced something (whatever this "Pixar" thing is?). Maybe that influence, whatever is is, has a lot to do with why I find all current Hollywerd product unwatchable?

I’ve owned many many of each of the things these guys are famous for. I’ve never owned a single dang thing jobs was famous for...and probably never will. In fact, I would bet that with the death of jobs, apple will gradually year by year fade to oblivion.
Almost all of the Pixar movies have a solid conservative message, especially ‘The Incredibles.’
If you own a personal computer.... you own what Jobs was famous for.
Before Jobs (and he screwed things up, in my book), computers were for guys with soldering irons, paper tape readers, and lots free time on the weekends.
So yes, you do own something that Jobs popularized. The PC.

It’s culture man, not politics, that’s all! That faggot Truman Capote, for example, if you don’t dig Keith Richards. (Extreme examples, fer shore, to provoke you, myself and those who worship politician dirtbags.) We’ve got to decide. History will, and it will, as it has before, like it or not, choose the artists over the forgettable Sarahs and Dick Cheneys that we all happen worship this week. Pox on all politicians houses, says the cat’s dog!
My personal take... Pixar is a really high tech thing that Jobs started, hoping to make money off of it.
And that didn't exactly work out like he planned.
But the folks he hired... They made movies like "Antz" which is a good, non facist, non communist movie. And they were really good with hardware and software.
It's all computer animation, good story lines, and it's only a matter of time before it's perverted.
I do recommend Antz. It is good story and cartoon.

Steve Jobs did a good job at what he tried to do.
'Culturally', I'm not on the same page. Command lines and terminals are more my speed.

That would explain why I am clueless about this Pixar thing. Do not watch cartoons since WB stopped Roadrunner et al.
I tried to watch that "300" movie and gagged at all the "special" computer enhancment crap. Sorry, maybe just too old for this new Gen-X/Y/Z stuff. I grew up with "Bridge over the River Kwai" and "The Searchers". Quality, IOW.
Sorry, I do reject most of current "culture" and what is considered great stuff, maybe I need some macintosh stuff to orient me??

To which a renowned poet responded decades later: “When I hear the word ‘gun’ I reach for my culture”.
Actually, the Goehring attibute is incorrect according to some sources on the web. The phrase apparently originated in some stage play (I don’t have time to look it up now.)
When I say ‘culture’, I mean what is sometimes and all too often nowadays dismissed as high culture, which certainly is not about finger snapping, ‘rap music’, Tom Clancy or Thomas Kinkade.
