Ron Paul and huntsman are the two that REALLY make me uneasy.
How many of these danged straw polls do we have to endure?
I can understand why he won.
People who actually listen to Ron Paul -- as opposed to those who only listen to what's said about Ron Paul in ways that are often distorted and twisted -- have very different impressions of the man. I know this because I used to part of the only-know-what-I-read-about-Ron-Paul crowd before I took the time to listen to him, directly.
Too bad these morons are skewing the real numbers of support
I believe the Florida straw gave Cain a push.
However, the diference with Ron Paul is its not going to suddenly make people go wow, Ron Paul I have never thought about him before. He’s ran for President 3 times?
Anyone who has thought about him has already made up their minds and will be voting for someone else if history is a guide.
It is must be fun to live in a world where you can set up straw men and then knock them down with a look of smug triumph on your face. No “Paulbot” ever claimed he was a “frontrunner” on the basis of straw poll wins.

No the crazy Uncles are the ones who believe that we can afford to keeping policing the world without consequence, and supported that monstrosity called TARP (paging Herman Cain and Romney). Unfortunately they are the frontrunners!
Obviously your candidate lost!!!
I attended the summit. Ron Paul has a cult following--a real, no-kidding, bow-down-and-worship cult following. His disciples were everywhere. They can easily control the results at a venue of this size, and they did.
I voted for Santorum. He worked the summit hard and his family helped him. He was impressive. I wish he could get some traction.

I was at the summit. I talked to a lot of folks, and found no evidence that anyone was newly persuaded to support Ron Paul at the summit. Maybe it happened. I saw no evidence of it. The people who voted for Ron Paul came to the summit prepared to vote for Ron Paul. That's my impression.
I love the sore losers, trying to explain the lack of enthusiasm for their candidate. I wonder if they are also the types to turn over the checkboard when their bested.
Results of the Value Voters Poll:
Ron Paul: 37%
Herman Cain: 23%
Rick Santorum: 16%
Michele Bachmann 8%
Rick Perry 8%
Mitt Romney 4%
Newt Gingrich 3%
Jon Huntsman 0%
Those results probably arent accurate, one voter joked after Pauls victory was announced. Cain wowed everybody. Hes good.

Sorry, I should have been more clear -- I'm not there, didn't hear his speech, only read it, but was impressed. I was also speaking in generalities about the difference between those who only read about Ron Paul, mostly from his detractors using an inflamatory headline, as opposed to listen to him directly.
I'm genuinely curious. Don't most of the people there come to support a specific candidate? Is it like a straw poll in that sense? Or do most come with a blank slate and then vote purely on what they hear?
Actually, that is untrue. I have heard many tout the “many” straw polls he has won as an indicator of his strength and frontrunner status. Heck, I think a few articles posted on here said as much.
its simple:buy tickets for people, bus them in,and youre a shoe-in.Which is why I find straw polls meaningless and garbage.
Yes, but in general when Ron Paul wins a poll, the MSM either ignores it or tries to diminish the importance of the poll itself.
Like Ron Paul asked the Press Club recently: "How many people know who won the Florida Straw Poll? (Cain) How many know who won the California Straw Poll? (Ron Paul)"
The Florida win for Cain got huge media traction. And it's true --the California win for Paul was almost completely ignored.
