Mitt Romney remains the unquestioned frontrunner in New Hampshire, according to a pair of recent polls, but Atlanta businessman Herman Cain appears to be gaining ground as his top challenger.
Mr. Romney, a part-time New Hampshire resident and the former governor of neighboring Massachusetts, retains a commanding perch as the favorite candidate of many Granite State Republicans, with support from 38% of likely primary voters, according to a poll conducted earlier this month by Harvard University and St. Anselm College.
Mr. Cain finished second, with 20%, a finding in line with national polls that show his candidacy gaining steam.
A survey done by WMUR and the University of New Hampshire also put Mr. Cain in second place, with 12%, behind Mr. Romneys 37%.

Romney-Cain 2012!!
Only reason Perry is in the race is to split the Tea Party vote and hand the nod to Romney.
Romney/Cain? Are you serious?
You HOPING for Romney/Cain or predicting?
Ah.. the Perrywinkles strike again.
Yes I'm dead serious about that. People need to wake up.
He’s a Perry supporter they are always serious!
Its getting critical and I hope people utilize some logic and skill with their vote.
Its gonna be hugh.
Why are you running for president? To be president! Mr. Cain thundered in his booming baritone, which was playfully sarcastic at times.
What did I miss? Im not running to go to Disneyland. America has problems. Im a problem solver. Thats why Im running.
I'm not sure you're totally dead, but you sure are brain dead.
You are still typing, so there are some motor skills remaining, but rational thought has long since passed.
You've got large brass ones telling anyone to "wake up", when you are one breath away from being comatose.
It's a conspiracy every time Perry bumbles and stumbles.
Primaries are the time to vote for the candidate of your choice. My choice is Cain. I will vote for the eventual nominee. Even if that nominee is the odious, insulting Mitt Perry.
I meant to say "to the republican nomination" and not "White House."
Nice strike! lol
Yes the Perry supporters are serious, but wait until the Paul supporters show up they put even out do the Perry people. Though it’s getting a lot closer than it use to be.
Is your stethoscope getting cold? Well put on some confounded clothes!!!
‘Its gonna be hugh’
Seven Principles of the Constitution Party are:
Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;
Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual;
Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;
Property: Each individual’s right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
Constitution: and Bill of Rights interpreted according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers;
States’ Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government, nor prohibited by the Constitution to the states, is reserved to the states or to the people;
American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.
That’s not bad. Second in New Hampshire.
Still not the frontrunner though. Keep it up Herman!
If Perry botches, bumbles and stumbles through the next debate, will you admit he is not a contender?
Oh! That explains it! LOL!
Can you believe it? Moving ahead and STILL they consider him a second tier...while perry gasps for air and romney can’t raise steam in a sauna.
But I will answer you like this. If he performs "well" at the next debate, I think you Cain supporters should come on home to Perry. Where you should'a been all along.
You know he will. Only it will be the Perrypals minds. Tomorrow night Free Republic is going to look like a rerun of Family Feud where all his toothless supporters jump up and down and clap while posting "Good answer, good answer".
Don’t even THINK it...
People like pizza and hamburgers. That's just how it is. This gives Cain at least 50% of the vote. Why people can't see this is beyond me.
... to everyone of his nonsensical utterances.
Perry is all hat and no cattle; Cain is all beef and no baloney!
I’m sending you a box of 5000 life size Rick Perry posters.
A lot of these "Perry Supporters" - I suspect - ARE Paul supporters. They are trying their best to stir things up.
Great. A lifetime supply of bird cage liners.
“I’m serious that a vote for Cain virtually seals the nomination for Romney.”
You are delusional. Cain is the only person within striking distance of Romney.
Perry would help by dropping out of the race. He is down to 4% in this poll. And these folks will probably be barred from voting because they are likely undocumented mexicans looking for subsidized college tuition.
Be watchin' for it. Buncha goofballs on here gonna hate theirself in the end. But I do have a AR-10 I'll sell you before the ban comes down. Yes?
Only a Perrywinkle would suspect I chase ambulances. You have more conspiracy theories than Ron Paul fanatics. Stick with Tricky Rick. You deserve each other.
If Herman Cain crashes and burns in the next debate what will you do? Will you throw in the towel? I hope not. We need someone that can beat Romney.
99% of Perry haters hated Perry before Perry entered the race. They already had someone in mind and his Goliath entry rattled their bird cages.
Rick Perry has consistently performed poorly in debates. Herman Cain has done very well in each of the debates. Everyone can have a bad day or a misspoken thought. Patterns are what matter.
If all your worried about is Cain “running out of money by then,” send him a donation.
Viewing Herman Cain return Lawrence O'Donnell's cunning contrivances, seeing Mr. Cain deconstruct Mr. Obama-Soetero will be killer.

I don’t pay much attention to debate performances until the field is down to 3 or 4 on the stage. The only debates that really matter are the Presidential debates right before election day; that’s when the undecided watch. By then the candidates are pretty well rehearsed. Good debating skill is icing on the cake, but it’s not the cake.
We’ve argued about this before. The Perry supporters are the worst.
I know that many Sarah Palin fans were upset with Rick Perry’s entry. I learned the hard way to never get too emotionally invested in a candidate, or become too strongly biased against a candidate. It really does cloud your objectivity.
They say different, but I have to say you might just be changing my mind on it.
Unless you was from Texas 66% or better said: “Who” when Perry entered the race.
No, most Paul supporters have a very difficult time doing anything but arguing in favor of Ron Paul, waving signs for Ron Paul, etc for Ron Paul. Even when it might be funny for Buddy Roemer to beat Rick Perry in some straw poll or online poll, they just keep pushing Ron Paul.
Also, for decades, the Paul camp and the Bush/Rove/Perry camp have not liked each other.
I would say that Perry is the most disliked of all the candidates by the Ron Paul supporters.
No, no Ron Paul supporters are pretending to support Rick Perry.
Ron Paul supporters are happy that Rick Perry has lost 4/5th of his support.

You’re a nasty meanie head. Calling me names. You have hurt my feelers now.
On the other hand, Perry was quickly exposed via the debates not only for his tongue-tied speech problems, but also for lambasting a heartless conservative audience.
Meow.
