WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama saluted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday as a man who “stirred our conscience” and made the Union “more perfect,” rejoicing in the dedication of a monument memorializing the slain civil rights leader’s life and work.
“I know we will overcome,” Obama proclaimed, standing the 30-foot granite monument to King on the National Mall. “I know this,” the president said, “because of the man towering over us.”

The dedication has special meaning for the Obamas. The president credits King with paving his way to the White House. Before his remarks, he left signed copies of his inaugural speech and 2008 convention address in a time capsule at the monument site. The first couple and daughters Malia and Sasha made a more private visit to the site on Friday night, before the crowds and the cameras arrived.
In his talk, he focused on King’s broad themes — equality, justice and peaceful resistance — as the nation confronts, 48 years later, some of the same issues of war, an economic crisis and a lingering distrust of government in some quarters.

Locking up and burying his “speeches” is a nice touch but the “I (Heart) Me” stickers applied to them was a bit much.
I don’t see why people have a problem with obama burying his speeches there. Burying trash releases less carbon dioxide than burning it.
How about Stalin, Lenin, Churchill, Reagan, Kennedy? (I chose the political spectrum to point out Obama is truly nuts.)

Obama is not fit to tie MLK’s shoes! His “oratory” is nowhere fit to be compared to MLKs. What an arrogant piece of work!
First of all, he has no basis of comparison of his background to MLK. Obama is 1/2 white and 1/2 African (if you can believe him.) He is no half African-American. He has no Souther African American culture to share with MLK.
Because that is going to be Cain's crowning unity speech when he accepts the nomination.
Maybe because there are no native blacks in China?

I watched the dedication on Fox. I thought it was a disgrace and an insult to much what MLK stood for during his short life.
The Arrogant Bastard Obama gave a campaign speech, occasionally trying to sound Black.... it was sickening.
If I were Black, I would be proud of MLK’s civil rights accomplishments, but Flim Flam Man Obama, not a true Black man, would be one of my greatest embarrassments.
This dedication SHOULD have been about MLK, his accomplishments in the civil rights movement of his time, NOT anther self promoting batch of lies for Obama’s political and country destroying purposes.
Today, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. should have been rolling over in his grave.

Other things that need to go into the time capsule: A copy of every picture taken of HIM; a mural size copy of HIS picture staring at HIMSELF in the mirror; one of HIS empty suits; a sweaty T-shirt HE wore while playing basketball in HIS gym; a picture of HIS new jet; a picture of HIS new limo; the last bite of one of HIS ice cream cones; HIS golf calendar; HIS totally redacted visitors log; the empty hard drive where HIS incriminating emails used to reside; a copy of HIS broken campaign promises snuck in by one of HIS many enemies. I want to continue, but I have things to do.
