There is no point to cutting the President’s pay.

It's symbolic. He doesn't get a raise until the rest of us do. I think that it's politically brilliant!

The question nobody is asking is: what good will a balanced budget do if our enemies sneak in a nuke and detonate it in downtown New York? (Because Mr. Paul wants to leave Iran alone....)

Too bad we can’t trust him to defend our country.

I hear what you're saying but I'm not sure the expensive protracted wars we are now fighting are doing much to keep us safe either. When 911 happened I wanted to just bomb the heck out of a few choice pro-terror countries, like Iraq and Syria, and set the tone that justice will be swift and forceful whenever anyone attacks the USA. I am not a fan of exporting Democracy. I do not agree with much of Paul's foreign policy but I agree with him at least 75% of the time when he votes. I am also a big fan of marijuana legalization but I'm not sure most Freepers are down with that. I think all the candidates have their flaws but I am going to actively support whoever wins the primary.

I’m fine with the president’s pay where it is. It’s probably the hardest, most important job in the world. It’s not like Ron Paul is going to win the nomination. I think he is good to have in the debates, and could have some type of fiscal position in the next president’s cabinet. I was just pointing out that it obviously wasn’t the point of him saying that.

Paul also started running ads on the radio in Upstate SC emphasizing his pro-life beliefs. I’m not the biggest Paul fan, but the commercials are quite effective.

This ad?

He told this same story about the two babies in his book, Liberty Defined, and I cried when I read it.

The thing of it is if we really believe in limited government and believe the government need to stay under budget than its going to take some real cutting and slashing.
A lot of toes need stepping on. I mean either we are going to FIX the problems or we are going to allow them to continue.
Personally, I am willing to suffer a little, if thats what it take, if it means we honestly fixing the mess once and for all.
Anyone who talks cutting rather than spending has my ear..even a half a nutterbutter.

“While promising to cut $1 trillion in spending during his first year, Mr. Paul would eliminate the Departments of Education, Commerce, Energy, Interior and Housing and Urban Development.”

I’m pretty much in the Cain camp, but he talks about ‘fixing things’ not gutting government. Ron Paul is saying what needs to be said AND DONE!

Inside Ronald Reagan – Reason Magazine:

REASON: Governor Reagan, you have been quoted in the press as saying that you’re doing a lot of speaking now on behalf of the philosophy of conservatism and libertarianism.

Is there a difference between the two?

REAGAN: If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories.

The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is……

Congress & President’s pay should be linked to certain economic success or failure.

Are you kidding?

These people should be paid minimum wage for the privilege of serving the people. This goes for *all* the governors, senators, congress, city councils, mayors, etc. If they don't like it don't run for election. Cut their pension by 80 percent, and eliminated most of their tax paid health care benefits...We're broke and can no longer afford them.

Abolish all government employee unions...Did ya know there are more unionize government employees than those in the private sector in today's America?

Millions of these government bureaucrats are gang raping and choking the life out of America.

I’m for cutting all the uncessary and dangerous agencies. The sooner the better.

It's a bigger, more specific start than anyone else has offered so far!

When I was a kid I worked on one of Dr. Paul’s early campaigns for Congress. I went around with him to various campaign events. He was saying the exact same things when I was driving around with him and when he was at those events as he says today.

I will never have to vote for Ron Paul, so there is no further point in attacking him. I like a lot of his domestic policy ideas.

I’ll leave it at that.

What is interesting is the very pro-Paul sentiments that make up the 278 comments associated with the article.

Why do you find that interesting? Americans have been beat down and gang raped by ever expanding government at all levels. To the point where America is broke, and much of the3 middle class private sector has lost their asses.

Feel free to make your own comments in support of bigger, more bloated, more corrupt country killing government. Tell us how many more taxes, government agencies, regulations, and government employees are needed.
