Over 1 in 20 Banks Have Failed Since Crisis Started

I've been checking the fdic website routinely since 2008 when everything tanked.

There were about 8100 banks around at that time, according to the fdic.

Since 2007, 433 banks have failed. That's over 5% of the total, or, 1 in 20.

Here's the breakdown by year:

2007=3, 2008=25, 2009=140, 2010=157, 2011=84

The 2011 number includes what we have so far in October.

There's no other point to this story. I just thought it was an interesting factoid.

The FDIC link for the complete list is:

"Only one in 20? How am I gonna implement my marxist agenda with so many banks out there?"
