Amil Imani Governor Perry's Islam Connection
No matter how I tried, I couldn't reach the conclusion that this inclusion promotes Islam or is pro-Sharia. It seems that the mere fact that Islam is included in the curriculum represents supporting it. And with regard to the concern that the education curriculum Perry promoted is pro-Arab and against Israel, the evidence is exactly the opposite. The lesson on Israel reads:
Personally, I think Cain has been getting the most glowing press - at least from the more conservative media. I think Cain is a nice guy, but I believe he'd get crushed if he were our nominee against Obama. I mean, utterly destroyed in McGovern like fashion. Why so many conservatives are throwing in with this guy I will never know. Herman is a complete political novice who is liable to say something utterly stupid and blow up his campaign at any moment, and yet so many people are backing him? I don't get it. I doubt Cain does either. I don't think he really believed he had a chance of winning and was mostly just interested in pushing his point of view and selling books. I don't think he will be the nominee, but the fact that so many are supporting him without realizing how badly he'd fare in a general election is a little disturbing. Maybe they feel they have no choice.
In my opinion, Perry is the only candidate in the race that can realistically stop Romney. If Perry can't communicate better and run a sharper campaign, then I guess I am stuck supporting Newt because I'd have no other option.
You should have seen Perry’s speech Sat. night in Iowa—it was superb. http://theiowarepublican.com/2011/perry-regains-his-footing-at-iffc-event/
Trying to make a silk purse out of sow’s ear does not cut it. Endless, stifling love for the candidate will not make things true that just are not.
Thank you CW, beautiful family and love the photo of Marcus and Rick Perry as well.
Does he paint his toenails, and wear open toed sexy sandals?
The truth is absolutely irrelevant to you, isn’t it? You KNOW Perry is not pro-illegals and yet you continue to repeat the lie over and over. It is extremely disappointing to know that a so-called conservative would continue to lie—just to try to destroy another candidate.
I guess you are upset that the posts about Perry are not about Romney. If you were a true conservative you would not mind posts about Perry or Cain or Sarah.
Speaking of Rush, get him to run -- or Sean Hannity. You seem to want a talker. There are a LOT of talkers out there but they don't usually like the day to day slog of governing nor are they good at it.
Perry is a good governor and he fights for the people.
Point of clarification. I will not vote for Obama but I certainly will not vote for Perry under any circumstances. I will write in whoever I damn well please.
Of course the truth is irrelevant to you.
You obviously do not want the truth about Perry and what he has done about the border.
As far as Mitt Romney goes I agree he is a POS.
I did not object to your commenting.
You were objecting to the posting of Perry articles, IIRC.
Of course pro and con opinions will be posted..and rebutted.
Such is the world of public forums.
CW keep the photos coming, they did not complain when awesome photos of Sarah were posted. WE true conservatives love the photos and Rick Perry and BOTH of his plans.
LOL now the lefties on here will attack Reagan since he was first a democrat. GREAT photo of Reagan.
The number of illegals fleeing Arizona and Alabama is the result of a governor and administration with with cajones actually trying to do the job which fedzilla refuses to do.
He'd better get busy if he's going to do that, he's running 4th in recent polls. He's got a long road to go if he's going to beat Romney. I don't think he has a chance. Cain's business background is really resonating with people.
I do agree he could possibly say something at any time that would ruin his campaign but I am praying that won't happen. He is charismatic and our only chance IMHO of beating Obama. I would also love to see Gingrich in there but I don't think he could beat Obama.
I'll believe it when I see it.
Eloquently put. I feel exactly the same way. If Perry doesn't pull it off, which I think he will, I'll go with the most logical choice and that will be Newt.
I was moved by the Texas parents who wrote to thank me for exposing this dangerous whitewash. Imagine an in-depth study of Islamic history void of the jihadi wars, land appropriations, cultural annihilations, gender apartheid, enslavements, ethnic cleansing and misogyny. I urge rational and reasoned thinkers to study the curriculum for themselves. The Perry posse would prefer you did not. I ask that you do. Here is the evidence.
Muslim Histories and Culture Project
What is the Muslim Histories and Culture Project (MHCP)?
The Muslim Histories and Cultures Project was born out of discussions between His Highness The Aga Khan and Texas Governor Rick Perry during the Summer 2002, when The Aga Khan was in Houston for the dedication of a new Ismaili Center. Both His Highness and Governor Perry agreed on the need for Texans to have a greater understanding of Islamic culture, and subsequently brought UT-Austin President Larry Faulkner into the discussions. Located in the state capital, Faulkners campus is well positioned to accomplish these goals. A series of meetings followed, with the project ultimately finding a home in UT-Austins College of Liberal Arts, under the guidance of Dean Richard W. Lariviere, in association with UT Liberal Arts (UT-LA), the colleges teacher preparation program.
In April 2004, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and UT-Austin finalized a grant proposal that created the partnership that became known as the Muslim Histories and Cultures Program (MHC). Much has happened since the inception of the partnership. Creation and implementation of a model was of prime importance. MHC recruited and directly trained 80 teachers affecting approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography in ten key Texas districts during the two sessions conducted in 2005 and 2006. The purpose is two-fold 1) to fulfill Governor Rick Perry's desire to better educate Texas teachers on Muslim topics and 2) to train teachers to use a cultural lens approach to understanding other cultures. Governor Perry was instrumental in getting this program off the ground.
Here are some of the elements of the program that show it to be a whitewash of Islam:
The illegals fleeing Arizona had NOTHING to do with our Governor, they fled due to Russell Pierce and his leadership. Jan Brewer just took the credit. And still we can’t deport, we can only turn them over to the feds who promptly release them.
“26 plus years in the military, I know a LIAR when I see one, and Perry is a LIAR.
Trust him at your own peril.”
I know them when I see them too.
26 plus years in the military? Then you must know that Perry is the only military man running, and you must know that Marcus Luttrell is backing Perry. Surely you know who he is? You want to call him a Perrywinkle to his face? Of course there may be a bit of difference between what Marcus did in the military and what you did, right? Or were you also a Navy SEAL?
I notice that half the time he (perry) sounds like George W Bush, and I believe the number one reason why Obamao is President is because Bush was so disliked. People are mad at themselves for foolishly voting against Bush when he was not even running, but at least Bush sounded pretty smart and lucid most of the time.
When Perry talks in these debates it makes people remember the sometimes cringe factor of George Bush. Making excuses for someone does not help them it only makes you look like a sycophant. It is more than obvious that his wife and his crony capitalist donors are pushing him.
I have been watching Texas freepers post for at least 10 years on what a worthless Governor he has been, and I believe they know the truth, and what has been going on, and do not wear rose colored glasses.
Who will you support when his chickens come home to roost and Mommy's dream of being first lady goes up in smoke?
The difference is is that Sarah had a wonderful charisma and beauty - a feminine beauty that, on occasion, could match any photo of the late Princess Diana. Little Ricky has the look of a big, dumb jock. I’m not fond of men who continually pose for photos. The Parade Magazine cover even turned on the fans to blow his hair and jacket backward (I don’t believe Sarah and Diana ever went for this old cliche) which was out of date in 1990.
This focus on so-called “male beauty” didn’t work for Dan Quayle (who at least had a natural humility about him) and it’s not going to work for the Governor of the Great State of Texas.
Yeah, but who would want to use Nixon as an example.
Yeah, my group believes in US sovereignty and doesn’t believe in leaders using executive orders to force vaccines on the innocent because we know better than they do and because we get money and donations from drug companies. LOL
Perry is a crony capitalist and he will never be able to go after Obama for doing what he has no problem doing. Perry is lethal.
Get with it. Will ya?
The Confederacy was run by democrats. Said democrats started a war against America that resulted in the dealths of over 600,000 people. Why in the world would Perry want to honor that flag?
But, it's your full right to honor what the democrats did in their war against the United States of America, and their assasination of a US President.
Nope; I won’t avoid these threads anymore than anti-Cainites will avoid those threads. I’m bored and tired of the stupid photos of the governor looking like he’s searching his mind for a thought - and failing miserably.
Some of us just don’t find him attractive.
Perry isn’t much different than Kerry as far as the military is concerned.
Perry isn’t much different than Kerry as far as the military is concerned.
Right. You served with him?
Do you agree with Shelia Jackson Lee on the Confederate license plate issue?
I've heard from some posters that he's a very nice person, but when I look at him, I see a man who simply does not measure up to what is required of a president.
Yet some veterans are pointing out that Perry has not always been their ally. In fact, he actually signed legislation that disenfranchises many of them. The Voter ID law Perry signed in May prohibits veterans from using their ID card from the Department of Veterans Affairs to vote, even though it is a government-issued photo ID. As a result, veterans are showing up to the polls and being turned away:
Allen Vaught, an Iraq War Veteran, who was awarded a Purple Heart [said] “Iowans, and Americans at large should know, however, that Governor Perry put partisan politics above the rights of veterans by recently signing a Voter ID Law in Texas that prohibits veterans from using their Department of Veterans Affairs ID card to vote.”
Vaught added, “Governor Perry knows full well that a Veterans ID Card is a legitimate, government-issued ID. In some cases, it's the only government ID a veteran has. Veterans fought to protect our democracy. Yet, Governor Perry's ill-conceived voter ID law will ensure that some veterans don't get to participate in the democracy they fought to preserve.”
Vaught went on to say that Perry's “record doesn't stand up to his blustery rhetoric.” In Iowa, Perry has said he's running for president to “make sure that every young man and woman who puts on the uniform of this country respects highly the president of the United States.” Perry served in the Air Force from 1972 to 1977.
Perry designated Texas’ Voter ID bill an “emergency item” under his power as governor. Vet Voice points out that just last week, Ann McGeehan, director of the Texas Secretary of State's elections division, affirmed that photo ID cards issued by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are not acceptable forms of ID under Perry's new law.
Gov. Rick Perry participates in ceremonies at Camp Mabry to redesignate the 49th Armored Division as the 36th Infantry Division. The former 49th Armored Division, which consists of approximately 12,000 soldiers, makes up almost two-thirds of the Texas National Guard. The division's redesignation as the 36th Infantry Division is part of the Texas Army National Guard's transition from a heavy armored force to a more versatile infantry force.
Texas Gov. Perry receives a warm greeting from Ghazni Provincial Governor Dr. Usman Usmani at the flight line minutes after landing at Forward Operating Base Ghazni by UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. Perry led a delegation of four other governors
Lt. Col. Thomas J. Kleis (R) briefs Texas Gov. Rick Perry (C) as Command Sgt. Maj. Peter P.A. Collins (L) listens on the intelligence gathering successes the 636th Military Intelligence Battalion has achieved during their last six months of duty
Texas Gov. Rick Perry stands with Texas service members from the 636th Military Intelligence Battalion, 71st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade and the 136th Military Police Battalion on July 20th under the Texas flag he presented to the 636th.
I’ve never met a politician who I haven’t thought was a nice guy - and that includes my former governor, Jim McGreevey, who sweetly kissed my best friend on the cheek one week before announcing he was a “gay American.” (My best friend is a lady!) So, I’m pretty cynical about that.
Mr. Perry, nice guy or not, is simply not up to the job and it seems that the majority of freepers have figured that out. But, like all pols, he will do what he has to do, until he runs out of money.
You don't recall correctly. I was asking the original poster questions as to why she continuously posts threads and antagonizes the people who comment negatively. In fact, they were sincere questions and I'd like to read sincere answers.
"Such is the world of public forums."
You are soooo clever and original. High five.
At that link there also is a good video, "Veterans for Rick Perry."
The Facts --Mitt Romney's political ad
The spot's most striking image is a tumbleweed blowing along a deserted Texas highway. That's rich. It's intended to create the impression that Rick Perry's Texas is something of a depressed ghost town. Nothing could be further from the truth. Since the recession began, desperate job seekers have flocked to Texas at a clip of roughly 1,000 people per day. And they're finding work, too. Despite a huge population influx and a bruising national recession, Texas' unemployment rate remains below the national average. How remarkable has the Lone Star State's economic performance been? Read this Political Math analysis (written by a self-professed non Perry supporter), and marvel. One telling data point:
