Huntsman campaign video: Romney flips like a toy monkey

Jon Huntsman is ramping up his criticism of Mitt Romney as a flip-flopper with a new campaign ad.

The video, called "Backflip," features a split-screen: On one side is Romney, making apparently contradictory statements — on issues like abortion and an Ohio bill curtailing union bargaining rights — and on the other a small wind-up toy monkey.

"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country," Romney says in a clip from his campaign for governor of Massachussetts. The video then cuts to Romney saying more recently he has "consistently been pro-life."

The ad, released Friday, comes the same day that Huntsman described Romney as a "perfectly lubricated weathervane."

Romney's expensive advisors never prepared him for death by toy monkey. :-) I'll never be a Huntsman fan but his ad is spot on.

Huntsman spent most of the last two years smooching Obama’s butt...now he’s a democrat stalking horse in the GOP campaign.

Don’t trust him...or Romney either...at least we know what Huntsman is.

Excellent ad. Maybe he can sell it to Cain when he finally drops out.

I have assumed all along that the goal for Huntsman was to get enough of following in the GOP primary that he could be a realistic 3rd party candidate in support of an Obama re-election.

Well he didn't' get that following but I'm not so sure that he won't run anyway. This may cost the ultimate GOP nominee up to a 100 votes nationwide.

Yeah Huntsman is a dead candidate walking but then again I think he is just doing this like some rich guys go on safari. I welcome anything that heaps ridicule on Romney and this should be seen as a preface of what Obama and the Democrats will do to him and they won’t even need to make anything up. Romney behaves as if the electorate was born yesterday. It reminds me of the OWS, he and his team seem to believe that because ‘they did everything right’ that they deserve the Presidency. Well he didn’t do ‘everything right’ he mostly played things to the left and the excuse of well he was a NE governor doesn’t fly. Gov Don Carcieri didn’t govern to the left in RI and he won two terms as a tough conservative socially and fiscally in a state that would be by conventional reasoning be thought of as deep blue. When we let Romney have a pass we are saying all that we did in 2010 was just a game of pretend because a Democrat was in the White House.

RINO cat fight.

The only difference between Romney and Huntsman, is that Romney supports American manufacturing.

I don’t know if that is a real difference. Romney just doesn’t know who the hell HE is so how in the hell are WE supposed to know?

I am beginning to think Huntsman works for the Chicoms.

Romney is the single most protectionist candidate running.

That’s brave, and good.

I thought it was funny when Perry accused Romney of flip flopping. Perry’s the guy who ran Al Gore’s campaign for Texas.

And before that, I guess you'd say, he "smooched" Bush Jr, Sr, and Reagan's.

Headline-surfing isn't a category of thought. In fact, it's a repudiation of it.
