Skip to comments.DNC Chair Says “Personhood” Amendments “Extreme” and “Radical”

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla) lashed out at those who argue for laws to protect personhood calling them purveyors of an extreme and radical notion.
The inspiration for Wasserman-Schultzs outburst is the growing movement for enacting so-called personhood amendments to state constitutions in Mississippi, Ohio, Texas, Kansas, and Florida.
Under these amendments an unborn human would be deemed a person for the purpose of defending his or her legal rights. The most alarming aspect of this from Wasserman-Schultzs perspective would be that the amendments would bar such persons from being deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process.
Its no secret that due process in this country moves at a snails pace, Wasserman-Schultz observed. By the time a case pleading the necessity, justice, or utility of a prospective abortion could be brought to court the issue, in most instances, would already be moot.
The Representative characterized the push for these amendments as divisive, dangerous, and destructive. They are wrong on so many levels. First, they aim to divest women of the reproductive rights granted by the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade almost 40 years ago. Second, they would impede societys ability to manage the population for the greater good. The measure is written so broadly that unwanted, useless, and burdensome persons would be endowed with rights that could block effective remedial actions.
hang on while I get some popcorn...
Unfortunately, the MS “personhood” amendment probably won’t pass. They’ve tried this in several states already, and they’ve gone down in flames. Abortion on demand is still just too much an ingrained reality and “right,” even for some “conservatives,” thanks to the Left’s propaganda machine churning non-stop for decades.
slaughtering unborn babies use to be considered “extreme” and “radical”... now letting them be born is.
Spoken like a truly extreme radical.
I wonder what God would say to Wasserman-Schultz about “unwanted, useless, and burdensome persons.”
Another eye rollin’, head shaker John. You called it on Wasserman-Schultz SHEESH!
Does she have children? If so did she talk to her unborn baby using terms “it”, “a clump of cells” , etc? When she finds out someone is pregnant does she congratulate them and refer to the “thing” growing in their body? No, you congratulate people on their having a baby, and last time I checked babies were human!
So radical that I hear this is taught in medical school.I mean the new person does have unique DNA and all!
