In the world of sound-bites, Perry has committed a mortal sin.

I know I'm glad the fields narrowed down by one more, but this still hurts. I would have liked Perry to drop out weeks ago and see his supporters pick up a non-romney candidate.

I didn't want to see any Perry supporters here go through this though. I hurt for them. This wasn't just a gaffe, this was total humiliation. They, his supporters, especially here, didn't deserve that.

Essie,
Give it up. He is cooked. That is the ONLY thing they are showing on the news. Perry screwed up and really should drop out today. They are saying that is the most embarrassing debate screw up in History!!!! I mean it seriously on every news show. If not for Penn State, it would be the ONLY news.

So far, Perry has been his own worst enemy, He isn’t down in the polls by anything inflicted by anyone else.

I believe I heard he wouldn’t debate his prior opponent. Big mistake. The guy needs a lot of practice.

It amazes me when a person won’t work on their main flaws, especially if those flaws can take you out.

Mea Culpa.

I forecast that Rick would beat Obama.

What can I say? My bieber was stuned.

Did the Opposition slip something into his coffee?

He needs to drop out and throw his support behind Cain.

I realize his campaign is in trouble. I, for one still think he’s a good man. I’ll be around a couple years from now (hopefully) to watch whichever candidates become president “forget” to close ANY of those unneeded agency.
Since ‘ol Perry detracts from the debates, I suppose a good title for him would be “debator” Since some of the others are so good at telling people exactly what they want to hear, they should be classified as “masterbators”....

We Palinistas had to come to Jesus too. Not fun, but what can you do. It be what it be. Still plenty of work for us both to do to defeat Romney, then Obama... so saddle up Pilgrim (he said in his best Texas voice ;)

Big deal!

I'm hardly a Perry supporter, but it's much more important to me that he recognizes the need to implode government than whether he has a momentary brain-freeze while speaking.

Well, we all have brain farts from time to time, but definitely doesn’t help if you are doing it in a debate, and its something you’ve been saying and resaying daily as part of your stump speeches.

I gotta be honest, how folks jumped on board with Bachmann and then Perry is beyond me.

All of Perry’s backers will throw their support behind Mittens. They’re RINOs at heart just like Mitt. No real conservative would want to pay for the education of illegal aliens.

Actually, he is just corroborating the bad name Aggies have had since the 1860s, enhanced by soon becoming the new Vanderbilt of the SEC.

Obviously you're referring to football only, and not academics.

To paraphrase an old, old, Doonesbury strip:

Debate Moderator: Question for you, Former Speaker Gingrich. What's your biology term paper on?

Newt: Juxtabronchial organ secretions in the higher mollusks.

Debate Moderator: And you, Gov. Perry?

Perry: Our Friend the Beaver.

Cheers!

Can anyone imagine this guy as President, going up against the national media in a live news conference?
I have to stop you right there.

He'll never be president.

Can you imagine this guy as the Republican Nominee, going up against Obama and his Army of Media Robot Soldiers?

They would slaughter him. They would flatten him like Gumby.

But of course, that's not going to happen either.

No nomination for you, Governor. You should quit. And take Bachmann, Santorum and Huntsman with you. (I know it's unrealistic to call for Ron Paul to drop out, or I would include him, too.)

This race should get down to Romney (boo!), Cain and Gingrich... and yeah, Paul's going to hang out on the sidelines, I know that.

The rest are wasting all our time.

I like your BCR, that’s a good one.

Don’t say it too loud, though, or Gloria AllWhore (All Whores, All the Time) is going to start demanding a cut.

I don't think he ever really wanted to run - he was talked into it. Maybe it's that reluctance that comes through in debates.
I said the exact same thing on an earlier thread.

Perry was actually doing quite well in last night's debate. Not only better than he'd ever done before but actually good, by a fair and level standard.

And then suddenly... in my opinion... the inner Perry rebelled.

I don't think Perry wants to run for President.

He accepted the task as a Christian, a conservative and a patriot.

But he doesn't really want to do it.

As we used to say in the Army: He stepped on it.

The problem wasn’t when he stepped in it, it was when he started flailing his arms and made a snow angel.

True enough. Not a good thing for people to see.

Obama has had episodes, some of which are visible on YouTube, in which he falls completely apart and sounds like an idiot. I am not exaggerating.

“Hey! Lay off the Commodores!”

Look, I’m sorry. I thought that would be a positive for the Commodores. Heck, my doctor is a Commodore.

Cain has a sexual harassment problem. The longer this stays in the news the more it will hurt him. The more details that come out the more it hurts him. I am assuming that there is not some grand conspiracy among those women.

Newt has made no effort to build a campaign organization in Iowa. Nate Silver suggested that Iowa would be the best place for Perry to make a stand and I think that is right. It’s all about momentum coming out of the first caucus/primary.

Oh hell no. I am assuming Cain’s SH problem is not going away and that Newt doesn’t catch on.
