Freepers eat thier own
Self

Posted on 11/11/2011 8:03:06 AM PST by pwatson

Ok, I have to rant. There are some Freepers who seem to really, really hate certain candidates. A majority of their post are saying sometimes nasty and mean things about that candidate. This is so typical of what’s wrong with Republicans and Conservatives in general. We will eat our own candidates and pull defeat from the jaws of victory. I see the same thing in Religion, which explains why there are dozens of Christian churches within miles of my house each claiming to be the "correct" way to God. I am in Texas. I like Perry but he has made some bad decisions, border, Gardasil, trans-corridor. Still he is generally a good guy and governor. In the debates he proved he is an Aggie. Gingrich, he was great in 1994 with the contract with America, but let the glee of his victory get the best of him and over reached his mandate and lost to the Democrats. Sill he is a smart guy and has good ideas. Cain, I like a lot, good personality, executive skills, but not perfect. Bachmann, great ideas but jumped the gun to many times and eventually showed she needed to what she says a little better. Santorum, great guy and ideas but just lacks charisma and can’t make the sale enough to gain traction. Paul is our Texas crazy Uncle, love him and his ideas on money but does not know how to be a little less anti Israel and not so open borders on foreign affairs. Yes he is right we spend way too much as the military for the world, but come on Islamic nuts with Nukes not a good idea. Romney, a smart guy, typical East Coast liberal Country Club Republican, not a Conservative or Libertarian by any measures. He is more of a wonk than a leader and not my choice. Huntsman, wow that guy sure looks like my Gay uncle Harley, his ideas seem, well not Republican, Conservative or Libertarian. So back to my point. All of these Candidates have flaws and some good points the top appears to be firming up to be Cain and Newt vs. Romney.

You bring up two controversial subjects in your post, politics and religion, then wonder why there's discord? Come on, now.....that's been the case for ages. I know you're not that naive.

Imagine what the meetings of the 1st and 2nd Continental Congress must have been like.

I agree. A little more civility is in order. The name calling often make us look like a bunch of immature 3rd graders on the playground.

You feel that RINOs are some of your “own”?
Smells like Mitt.

No I like Cain best right now among the group. Mitt is a RINO and liberal east coast country club republican.

I also hate loosing to Liberals

I hate supporting Rinos who promise one thing, then when the time comes to take a stand, they stab us in the back and side with the liberals.

Simple rule of thumb for Freepers should be. Don’t just spend your time trash talking the other candidates, make a case FOR your candidate. If you throw punches around, people are going to punch back.

Agree 100%. I actually told two ladies the same thing on FR a little over a month ago - that they should focus on saying why their preferred candidate was the prudent choice, focus on his policies and how they would help the nation, and concentrate on showing his pertinent attributes when it comes to the presidency.

I also told them to stop attacking other candidates because doing so was only alienating FReepers. One of those ladies even referred to another FReeper's support of another candidate as that of a love struck teenage girl, while in many of the threads early last month they plain insulted several FReepers.

I told those two ladies they were making a mistake, that there would be a backlash (you cannot get support from people by alluding that they are foolish for not supporting your candidate), and at one point I wrote a long post wondering aloud if they REALLY supported their candidate since the tactics they were using were actually harming Perr - I mean, their candidate - on FR.

They did not listen.

A month later and only Romney is disliked more by a large part of FR than their candidate. I wish they had listened, but in their myopia they turned a section of the forum against their prefered candidate (who at one time was polling at the top but has since then plummeted). Moral of the story? What you said -- throw enough darts around and sooner or later people will start throwing them back. Although, to be honest, I believe that one of those two ladies (who has not posted in quite some time - don't know what happened to her) was an anti-Per --I mean, an anti-candidate X -- plant, because the insulting way she was engaging other FReepers was just stupid! Absolutely insane. To the extent that in one of the posts to her I copied Shield (who is a supporter of the candidate that has stuck to logic and common sense advocacy rather than questioning the intellence of others). I am almost certain that particular lady was a plant because she simply was not makng sense. As for the other lady - she seems genuinely in love withthe candidate, and probably just got a little carried away from the beginning. She still posts a lot about him, but she doesn't say anything crazy apart from maybe being a tad bit too optimistic about his chances. However, a different posting style one month ago and that candidates perception might be different on FR. My 2 cents

Primary time is a competition. In America today, nobody is supposed to compete, and when you play the game, there are no losers and nobody gets the booby prize. You mean like that?

I would hope most conservatives, and otherwise, right leaning folks, could think for themselve. If someone trashing a candidate (especially over nonsensical issues) would sway someone then that person is lost to begin with.
not to mention you start to see a pattern with certain poster and either ignore them or recognise they are full of crap.
Not to mention probably half the idiots who repeat basically the same crapola are probably coming from plants and people with whatever whacky agenda other than forwarding conservative ideas or electing conservatives.
It all goes back to ‘thinking for yourself’ Which is what serperates us all from the big government marxist/fascististic group think morons on the hard left.

She let the lady who claimed her daughter had become mentally damaged by the vaccine get her to say that and get attacked by the press.

Holy disfunctional sentence structure, Batman!!!!

"What is your opinion, Turdbreath?"

ROFL

I was going to ask the same question!

FR is not a "Kumbaya" sing-along type of place.

The Perry-pimpopnistas don't seeem to realize----this is the way democracy works.

Candidates come forward; they tell voters what they stand for (if they can remember); voters then decide who will get their support.

If Perry can't stand the political heat, he should GTH out of the kitchen.

Do the pimponistas really believe if Perry wasn't being vetted on FR, that the MSM will give him a free pass?

Perry's got a lot of baggage ---- and he's hoping he can slip by the process using the tricks he uses on trusting Texans.

That aint gonna happen.

The primaries are where the fight is fought, after that support goes to the victor.

Needs to be said again. And in the end, we must agree that ending the reign of Obama is the main goal.

I don’t hate anybody.
I don’t want Romney or Huntsman - they should be running as Democrats.
I like the others pretty much in the order of Cain, Perry, Gingrich then everybody else.

You need to first define what is conservatism then you can use that as a yardstick to measure candidates by.

Liberalism is like pornography, in the sense that you know it when you see it (as well as in other senses). Almost every candidate has flaws by my standards, but Romney is a liberal and is thus unacceptable.

It’s a discussion board, so we discuss. The Golden Rule is still the best way to life your life, on or offline...

And as Gov. Palin mentioned yesterday, the infighting is part of the process, but let’s not forget the real absolute imperative: removing Barack Hussein Obama from office.

It has been said ..”if you don’t feed the fire, etc.”....sometimes you just walk away from the conversation when it gets ridiculous.

I agree this is how the primaries do go..and not just on FreeRepublic...but on other sites as well..as well as on the street and in the workplace. PAssion runs high...so when it gets too much just walk away from it....it is always an individuals choice at what point one determines enough is enough.
