Perry fires back at Hoyer over Tea Party remark
Baltimore Sun ^ | November 15, 2011 | John Fritze

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry took a shot at Rep. Steny Hoyer on Tuesday, arguing that the Maryland Democrat is part of a culture in Washington that is “making a great living up there…at our expense.”

In a speech in Iowa, the Texas governor outlined a plan to slash government spending in part by reducing salaries for lawmakers. Asked about the proposal earlier in the day, Hoyer suggested that Perry was pandering to the Tea Party.

“When people like Steny Hoyer come out there and go, 'Is this guy being serious?' Yeah, you better believe it Steny. Americans are serious. They're serious about the spending that's going on,” Perry said on a conservative radio show. “It's not a surprise to me when I laid out this fundamental reform … that career politicians like Steny Hoyer don't like my plan to overhaul Washington. They're making a great living up there.”

Earlier in the day, when asked about Perry’s plan to halve lawmakers’ salaries, Hoyer gibed the candidate for a recent debate performance in which he could not remember the third federal agency he wants to eliminate.

“Rick Perry? I have heard that name, yes. Oh, he is the one that has three -- yes, I can't remember what they are.”

Hoyer then dismissed Perry’s government-reduction idea.

Perry was on Beck this morning, too. He seems to be on fire the last few days. I hope he can get back in the saddle—I really do believe he would be good for this country.

Man this how low Free Republic has gotten.

If Mitt Romney said this I would jump for joy just to see someone fighting back.

You Perry haters on FR are loose cannons. You are certainly not team players at all. Perry is the one moving the conversation back on the Democrats in Washington and all you can do is bitch.

Steny probably got this “Rick Perry? I have heard that name, yes. Oh, he is the one that has three -- yes, I can't remember what they are.” from trolling Free Republic.

Meh. Palin has also said, "I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection."

Rick Perry SAYS Washington pols are "making a great living at our expense.”....

....but where's the data showing Perry's exploding wealth since taking office? Perry practically invented "Crony Capitalism".....he's been called "the human price tag."

One Perry donor even got his very own state regulatory agency. Perry exchanged an executive order for a hefty contribution from Merck. One entree to getting Perry to give your issue his time is a contribution to Anita's agency---Texans Against Sexual Assault. And so on, and so forth, ad innfinitum, ad nauseaum.

Childish. Just one example of a Lib that needs to be bitch-slapped. And it seems all Republicans around here can do is criticize Perry? Seriously? I'm not a Perry supporter but Rick Perry is not the problem here. If Cain, Gingrich, Romney, etal... don't use Perry's opening to slam Hoyer and the rest of the Democrats, we get what we deserve, another 4 years of the destruction of our country.

Time to remind people of how during the very first debate Little Rickey was outraged at the thought that he’d only take a $5,000 bribe from Merck! Still one of my favorite moments in the entire campagin.

He’s is the least wealthy of all the Republican Candidates.

In fact, he is not wealthy at all. I heard his worth was around 1/4 million.

And yesterday, he suggested that along with all the pay cuts on Congress he was suggesting that the President’s Pay and Executive Office Staff Pay should be cut in half as well.

Where’s the link?

Which one was it now that you support?

Obama or Romney?

I forgot, Sir. You need to change your name Liz because you are not a lady.

Again and again, you only post on this website negative or flat out lies regarding Rick Perry. Why?
