The charity’s politically-correct move triggered an avalanche of criticism and mockery last night – from Christians. Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in New Romney, Kent, said: ‘We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can’t have anything that means Christmas. We’re allowed to have some tinsel but that’s it. ‘When we send cards they have to say season’s greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas. ‘When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Muslims.’
Mrs Banks added: ‘ We have been instructed that we can’t say anything about Christmas and we certainly can’t have a Christmas tree. ‘ I think the policy is offensive to Muslims as well as to us. No reasonable person can object to Christians celebrating Christmas. But we are not supposed to show any sign of Christianity at all.’

I've noticed that every news story of this type is always very vague as to who "they were told to take it out" by. Always vague; always anonymous. "They" affect the lives of hundreds or thousands, but remain permanently in the shadows, beyond reach.
Cowards. They know that they can't really face the righteous wrath of the abused. If the sandmaggots can't tolerate the culture that has welcomed them, odds are they are not big contributors to the Red Cross.
What's next? A demand to change the name? From my perspective, a few people need to be fired. They should remember who pays their salary.
I wish I still contributed to The Red Cross, but after their arrogant response to the 911 contributions, I switched all my charitable giving to the (Christian) Salvation Army.

I was listening to classical music while cooking this evening from one of the PBS stations. Had not done this in years just wanted a different groove while I stirred rissotto. The sponser was some islamic group advocating “greater understanding of muslim something.” I switched back to Sonny Landreth.
On the days when I think it could not get any worse in the United States, I think of the UK.
They remain well ahead of the USSA in going down the tube.

Do you have a source for that prognosis? From where I’m stood, it smells a lot like pure, unadulterated bullcrap.
May as well go ahead and change their name to Red Crescent ... the Cross part is offensive to Muslims too.

One is tempted to dump on fanatical Islam for this one but in fact the enemy is political correctness that is a result of profound cultural cowardice. In fact, the two are indistinguishable.
The original tenet of multiculturalism was, although debatable, actually fairly reasonable: that all cultures are worthy of respect. This, mixed up with a little academic Marxism, morphed into "all cultures except the dominant one are worthy of respect." For those obsessed with appearing open-minded this was further distorted into "all cultures except mine are worthy of respect." For those even further down the road to masochistic guilt-mongering, it became "all cultures except mine are worthy of respect because I'm an oppressor."
This sack-cloth-and-ashes interpretation of Western culture has completely disarmed its adherents in the face of the real, aggressive, violent Islamism that really would suppress Christmas. They are defenseless because guilt and self-loathing have made them so, which is fine, I suppose, except that they intend to take the rest of us down with them in the grand self-immolation of Western culture that is demanded by cowardice. They deserve to be mocked and they are being mocked, but far more important, they deserve to be driven from the positions of power that enable them to foist this silliness on all of us.
