low maintenance woman isn’t that in the same category as big foot, the loch ness monster, the abominable Snowman.....

No, they are out there, but they are almost always happily married with children.

I posted on an earlier thread the Dollar General has Libby brand canned veggies on sale through Wednesday for $.40/can. If it’s time for anybody to rotate stock or add to, this would be a great time to do it. It is a better deal than Aldi’s and store brands.

Not the Freeplay. I have one. It uses a spring to operate a generator. It works like the motor on the old wind up phonographs.

The early Freeplay radios had that system. An Internet search has indicated that they have not made them that way for quite a while.

"Wonder how it would work with an old a/c fan attached to the shaft, then hoisted up on a pole?"

It probably wouldn't. Try the following, if you have some welding and other technical experience (especially industrial safety and construction). It will work, but winds of 10 mph or more, much of the time, are required (e.g., the commonly raging winds in a basin on the east side of real mountain peaks, like those on the Great Divide).

10-foot wind turbine instructions (homebuilt)
http://www.otherpower.com/turbineplans.html

The following would work the best to save a lot of money on energy in most parts of our country, but it also requires real work. Contractors only build closed loop systems with all of the parts out of boxes (far too little thermal mass in such systems, but easy for retards to install).

$2K Solar Space + Water Heating -- One Simple DIY System

Technocracy--read the real definition, and embrace it. It will precede the rebuilding. The current social paradigm is dying. The "service economy," overly high "property values" and their friend, bipartisan socialism, will be gone for decades.

Have fun. Enjoy the slide.

Freeplay does have a 12 volt standalone charging system available. It looks handy.

Kart, Letting you and other preppers out there know that Lowes is selling food grade #2 HDPE 5-gallon buckets for only $3.98. At prepper sites, you’ll pay around $6-7 for them.

I found the buckets at the front of the store by the registers. They are done up for Christmas - red with candy cane stripes and green with Happy Holidays. Added bonus is whatever food you store in them would be mistaken for Christmas lights or decorations by anyone poking around.

They come without lids but you can purchase gamma lids from beprepared.com, just watch for their sales.

These recently ubiquitous inexpensive solar charged items have AA rechargeable batteries in them that are easily removed for use in other devices.

On that show “The Walking Dead” one kid returns some paperpack to the old guy in his motor home.

“Here’s your book - thanks.”

“You’re welcome. And sorry, If I had known, I would’ve grabbed better books.”

Here’s the set-up I am looking at:

http://www.amazon.com/HQRP-Monocrystalline-Controller-Regulator-Radiation/dp/B002WHQL2U/ref=pd_sim_ol_3

Then adding a inverter and a Deep Cycle battery and a inverter. Mount the whole thing on a two-wheel dolly.

I am also looking at this as a back-up:
