John Kerry Flat Out Lies on Meet the Press

...Democrats can cut spending without demanding higher taxes. It’s just too bad Meet the Press moderator David Gregory failed to point out that Kerry’s statement was grossly inaccurate, nor did anyone on Morning Joe feel the need to correct Kerry’s factually incorrect statement when re-airing the clip this morning.

If you really want to know why the supercommittee was unable to come to an agreement, American Enterprise Institute’s Jim Pethokoukis has a great post up this morning explaining how the Democrats' tax hike obsession killed the prospects for any deal:

It’s like the 1990s never happened and the 1970s never stopped happening for the Washington Obamacrats. The U.S. economy faces two screamingly obvious problems: historically slow growth and historically high government spending leading to massive budget deficits. In this way, American is already frighteningly like Greece and Italy.

Yet Democrats used the SuperCommittee to push a trillion-dollar tax hike and block fundamental entitlement reform. As one GOP aide told Politico, “If they were willing to go a little further on entitlements, we’d see what we can do on revenues. That was the way it would have to work. What we found was, they needed a trillion-plus in revenues, and weren’t willing to do anywhere near that on entitlements.”

To read Pethokoukis’s piece in its entirety, which I recommend, click here.

For another good read on what really happened with the supercommittee, check out this morning’s post from Cato’s Dan Mitchell, which explains how claims that Democrats were offering significant spending cuts in exchange for higher taxes is a complete lie and the sequester that everyone in the media is attributing “drastic cuts” to will actually yield at $2 trillion expansion of the federal government over the next decade...

Wait a minute. If you cut spending, why would you even NEED to raise taxes?

When it comes to needing versus wanting, Democrats always go for wants.

"What we found was, they needed a trillion-plus in revenues, and weren’t willing to do anywhere near that on entitlements.”

This is why we are headed off a cliff and it can't be stopped. Even if we all signed on to the idea that significant tax increases were necessary, the dems still can't acknowledge the scope of the problem. If we taxed everyone earning over 300K at 100% we would still run a DEFICIT for the year in spending. And of course the following year there would be no revenue because nobody would be left in business after having an entire year's income confiscated. Thus, for every additional dollar we raise in income we still need to cut spending by 10 to 15 dollars to even begin to get a handle on things. But it's clear, the left is never, ever going to agree to that. And the cliff is approaching.

John Kerry.....hmmm....wasn’t he in Vietnam?

I can’t remember; he so rarely talks about it anymore.

During John Kerry’s campaign for president his website displayed a fake form DD214 that showed him having been awarded a Silver Star with a “V” for valor; an award that does not exist.

I heard a guy on Rush the other day talking about a sign that Rush said people should make back in the Clinton years. It said something like “Always remember that this man is a liar!” You were supposed to hold it up in front of the tv whenever Clinton was on. Well, we need a new sign. This sign should read “Ignore what they say! They just want to put taxpayer money in their own pockets!” Hold it up in front of the tv whenever a Democrat is on. The Democrats don’t believe that mumbo-jumbo socialist swill they wretch up on air. It’s all smoke and mirrors to hide their stealing from the federal treasury to fill their own pockets.

I wondered that, as well.

That makes two. I sense momentum building.

Of course the real answer is because there are no spending cuts. DemocRATS want to increase spending by 23% a year over the next ten years and Republicans want to increase spending by 16% a year over the next ten years. In Washingtonspeak, that amounts to a spending cut.

Kerry’s web site in 2004 showed his Naval Discharge Certificate.
The date of discharge read : 1978.
Curious......as Kerry joined the navy for a six year hitch in 1966...that brings his discharge date to 1972.
Jimmy Carter gave amnesty to all deserters, bad discharges, dishonorable discharges.....in 1977.
That would explain Kerry’s discharge reading 1978.....After his office fielded a flood of calls questioning the discharge date it was taken down.
My personal belief is Kerry got a bad or dishonorable discharge and our wonderful liberal media never vetted him

Interesting, I never heard that tidbit during the 2004 kerfuffle. Figures though, until Obama came along, Kerry was giving Clinton a run for the “lies most” award of the Democrats. What is it with Democrats and lying anyway? It’s like it’s part of their moral fiber.

“John Kerry walks into a bar, and the bartender asks, ‘Why the long face John?’”. Hehe. My favorite from that era.

When the truth inconveniences a Liberal, out comes a lie. Period, end of story.

If that’s a problem for you, you’re stupid. Or a racist.

For that mythical “balanced approach” of course. Words have meaning, and those words precisely describe the balanced approach to be one of net gain, vs the what is needed. It is just amazing that so many do not get it.
