My wife, a woman of German extration, wanted Germanic names for the children. Unfortunately, she wouldn't settle for the German names I offered her - Wolfgang, Ludwig, Gertrude, Gunther, etc. So we ended up with prosaic English names - Mary, Daniel, David and John.
