Posted on 11/26/2011 1:33:52 PM PST by John Semmens
The so-called Super Committee composed of a dozen members of Congress failed to agree upon the required $1.2 trillion cut to planned increases in federal expenditures for the next decade. The sequestration that will now kick in will hold the increase in federal spending to $1.6 trillion dollars between 2013 and 2021.
The fact that the amount of spending will continue to expand regardless of whether the Super Committee accomplished anything was belittled by Press Secretary Jay Carney. The impact of anything they mightve done is minor compared to the fact that they failed to do anything, Carney explained. It is this appearance of failure that gives the President the opportunity to blame Congress for the lackluster state of the economy.
It wont be the presidents fault that we didnt get the tax increases we need to fight the recession, Carney bragged. That albatross is tied firmly around the necks of Congressional Republicans who continue to resist empowering the government to secure the larger share of resources it needs. Voters whore fed-up with the GOPs refusal to allow the kind of accelerated expansion of government the President has been advocating will know who to cast their ballots for next November.
On the Congressional front, Representative Barney Frank (D-Mass) seconded the White House take on events. The failure of the Super Committee means that taxes will automatically go up after next year when the Bush tax cuts expire, Frank boasted. All we Democrats have to do now is sit on our hands and the governments take goes up. Its Republicans who are screwed. They get tarred as the do-nothings and we get the cash.
Is it satire if this could have been on front page of NYT?
The whole damned Super Committee was designed to fail and we all know it, except for the idiots in this Country. It was a DemoNazi/Commucrat scheme that worked just the way BHO & Reid wanted.
House Speaker John Boehner fell for it.
...AHHHAAAAAHAA! Another good piece John.
Yes. The NYT is my favorite fake news source.
All the stupid republicans have to do is point to the imminent collapse of Europe and make it clear to the American people that obama is advocating the same policies for us. Republicans do a very poor job of making their case.
"We knew from the start what we wanted the Super-Committee to accomplish, and we accomplished it," said the aide. "Democrats will bring that focus to all the other problems in America, too, if voters send us back to Washington in 2012."
Short of breaking this country up in two between the producers and the parasites, I really don’t see any way out of this mess.
Thanks for the ping to the semi-news/semi-satire article today. Another good one.
John, You are the sultan of satire and the king of kidding! Love this!
John, it's good to see that the microphone you installed at the bar of the Mayflower Hotel hasn't been discovered yet.
The satirical equivalent of a Freudian slip.
Another funny/scary/more-truth-than-fiction column!
this is not satire
this is future proof that the president is passing out crack to his aides
One more year of this craziness and i am not sure b.o.
