GOP presidential contender Herman Cain's initial response to yesterday's allegation that he had a long term extra marital affair was an emphatic denial. Then a statement from his lawyer seemed to back away from the denial claiming "private, alleged consensual conduct between adults...is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public." Now Mr. Cain's chief of staff has confirmed that the candidate is reassessing whether to stay in the race and will make his final decision "over the next several days." If that decision is to abandon his bid for the nomination, will it really be because of that alleged affair or could this latest sex scandal be giving an unqualified candidate an excuse to get out before he spectacularly implodes on the national stage?

You’d think that anyone who wants to toss his hat in the ring to run for President of the United States of America, will open up himself to total, and complete diggin in the files of ones past. I wish these things were not true, but I think we’ve been delivered a bill of goods that might be soiled.
I’m glad this is coming out before the primary. I would have hated to have him get the nomination and then get destroyed.
I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt before, but now I think there might be something to all the allegations.
Let’s assume for a moment that these two had a consensual relationship for years - that they shared meals, a bed, and each other’s most inner thoughts. And that they ultimately parted amicably and went their separate ways..
What, pray tell, would bring this woman out of the shadows and into the newsrooms of America? Or, more precisely, WHO? Who is doing this dredging up of past lives? And is George Szaros* (sic) funding it?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure at this point it matters if they are true or not. If they are true, Cain was a fool to run for the presidency and not expect them to come out. If they are false, the media has managed to "Palin" him to the point he is little more than fodder for the late night show. Heck, Rush Limbaugh's guest show host today, Mark Steyn spent the first half-hour cracking jokes and ripping on him. When even the conservative media turns against you, it's over.
All with links to the National Restaurant Association, where Cain was just 4 or so years. Nothing else from 40+ years at multiple other places.
All with checkered financial pasts.
All but the latest with track records of multiple false or frivolous accusations. We have yet to get all the details on the last one.

All coming out as Cain was beginning to be seen as a threat to the Democrat stronghold on the black vote.

The problem here is Democrats can hide their past with the blessing of the media, while that same media goes out on a fishing expedition agaist Republicans.
Nothing is as corrupt as the American Media.

The last one had a protection order filed against her for stalking and threatening character defamation against her business partner. And then was sued for libel with the result being a default judgement in favor of her business partner because she didn't respond to the suit. NYTimes article
Whoever the GOP nominee is, he will be destroyed the very same way. This has been going on a month now, and I still haven’t seen one single piece of evidence of any wrong-doing. No receipts, no ticket stubs, no Hallmark cards, nothing. Phone records? Sixty calls/texts over 13 years? I know guys who call their ex-wives with more frequency.
All you need is a couple unstable women willing to make false allegations against Newt, Perry or Romney, and a media which doesn’t demand substantiation, and presto! Your candidate is toast now, too....

Cain , though , did admit to having what he described as a friendship / relationship with Ginger White.
Cain also said that Mrs Cain was unaware of this friendship until yesterday , which begs the question as to why he felt the need to keep it from her.
Cain said he had only given her financial help , again without Mrs Cain’s knowledge .
Plus, she had his personal cell phone number and he hers.
Most married men would have their clothes on the front lawn
and the locks changed by now.
The financial help could interest the IRS and the SEC because it should have been accounted for by one or both of them.

“I was on a conference call at 11:15am this morning with Herman Cain himself, where he explained to us that, once again, the accusations against him are COMPLETELY FALSE. He ALSO explained that he is NOT considering dropping out of the campaign, despite what the media is reporting. The campaign is moving forward as planned. Additionally, he shared that Ginger White WAS a friend of his (and his wife’s) and she was a struggling unemployed single mom who received several eviction notices due to being unable to pay her rent. So being the good man that he is, Mr. Cain helped her out financially as a FRIEND, as he has done for other friends in the past.”
When asked what the reassessment was about - Winne replied, “I was on the call, I did not hear the words “REASSESS THE CAMPAIGN”, I heard, ‘we need to assess the situation (the damage) over the next couple of days and continue to MOVE FORWARD.’ He said NOTHING about considering to drop out. He didn’t even INSINUATE it.”
