Professor: ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ Promotes Bullying
Michelle Malkin ^ | December 5, 2011 | Doug Powers

At first I thought his complaint might have something to do with the scene that you can only see in the director’s cut where the Abominable Snow Monster took Hermey’s dental school lunch money and gave him an atomic wedgie while Yukon Cornelius laughed until icicles came out his nose, but instead, the apparent problem is with Santa himself.

As it turns out, St. Nick is no saint:

Santa Claus doesn’t just drop off presents for kids — he also encourages the soul-crushing of generation after generation of Christmas-reveling children. Or says one author, at least.

Appearing on Fox News, author and special ed professor George Giuliani asserted that St. Nick’s behavior in the classic stop motion cartoon, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” is tantamount to bullying, and sends a wrong message to children watching the family favorite. As such, he’s written a new book, “No More Bullies at the North Pole,” which re-tells the story of the triumphant reindeer.

“Santa has ten policies that are very unfair, and Mrs. Claus sets out to correct those policies, and what you just saw, where Rudolph is being treated very very badly, and that should never happen,” Guiliani said.

If this was the professor’s biggest itch of the day, he’s doing pretty well in life. America is truly becoming Sissyland.

What an idiot. Yes, Rudolph was bullied just as was in the original song, but he overcame it and everyone learned an important lesson. (PS I am tired of any story ending "... and everyone learned an important lesson") The picture of Rudolph upgraded with a CFL is worth the effort of the click.

I have a feeling that the bullies lined up to give the professor wedgies when he was a kid. Also the prof didn't listen to the host asking the other guest to talk instead of him. I guess his colon blocked his ears.

Why did Rudolph wear sunglasses to the Christmas Party? So he wouldn’t be recognized.

Forget Rudolph! At the end of this show they murdered the bird from Misfit Island!

Recall that the bird on misfit island couldn't fly, he could only swim, hence being a misfit.

All the toys are cast out of Santa's sleigh with an umbrella to act as a parachute at the end of the show. The bird who could only swim was pushed out without an umbrella. He died! And I'm guessing there was no investigation either!

I remember that episode of Cheers! the exchange between Fraiser Crane and Woody went as follows (from the IMDB web site):

Dr. Frasier Crane: Apparently then Woody, you're unaware that the story of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is one of the most unrealistic and therefore potentially damaging in all of children's music. It gives them a horribly distorted view of reality.

Woody Boyd: Yeah, but you got to admit, it's easy to whistle.

Dr. Frasier Crane: No, I'm serious. First the other reindeer tease and then ostracise him. And then when his abnormality proves of service, they use him.

Dr. Frasier Crane: [Sam and Woody are speechless] But then do they allow him to play in their stupid reindeer games? Sam Malone, Woody Boyd: Yes.

Dr. Frasier Crane: Oh, no, I know how the song goes. In fact, not only do Donner, Blitzen, et al, not love him and laugh out loud with glee, but they doubly dispise the bulbous-nosed little wimp.

Dr. Frasier Crane: Well, I've got to be off. Happy Holidays!

Obviously, this man child grew up in a very sheltered life, and it still that way, being a liberal prof and all. He has never really met a real “bully” before but a good ole fashioned Texas a$$ whoopin’ would probably straighten him right out on the definition and experience.

How odd.

I happened to see this show the other night—I haven’t seen it since I was a child—and I was amazed at the message it promoted of tolerance for everyone, regardless of whether they have a physical defect or otherwise don’t “fit in”.

In today’s world, where non-perfect babies are diagnosed and murdered in the womb, where people like Terry Schindler are starved to death because they don’t measure up to someone else’s idea of “worthwhile” life—such a message is sorely needed.
