Please pray for my father. He suffered a massive stroke, in his sleep, on December 1st. He has been breathing on his own but unconscious since then. He has an advanced directive concerning heroic measures.

It doesn't look promising right now.

Mom passed six years ago. He has 10 living children and a truckload of grandchildren to go with 1 great-grand child.

He turned 83 on November 25th.

Sounds like 83 good years he had. My father had a massive stroke at 37 died at 45 of another. Was paralyzed on his right side, lost his speech, and we took care of him as he tried to get as close as someone in that condition could come back to as normal as can be.

Miracles do happen. God does listen. My Dad was originally given 24 hours to live...he lasted 9 years. Your Dad will be in my prayers tonight.

It sounds like he has had a good life - a big family to witness.

If you have the option, choose hospice - unless someone can visit the nursing home every day. Nursing homes aren’t very good with people who may never recover. My mother-in-law had several strokes and was in one until one of her daughters took her home to provide hospice until she passed.
MIL would have preferred it that was, so I’m sure she was happy. She is now with a daughter and her only son.
