H.R.1681 & S.1770: “Catholic Charities- Dump Forever,” beats “Every Child Deserves a Family Act”

H.R.1681 & S.1770: “Catholic Charities- Dump Forever,” beats “Every Child Deserves a Family Act” by John P. Roco December 7, 2011 10:10 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time on Oahu

The name, “Every Child Deserves a Family Act,” implies there are children with no families. Further, every child, pertaining to those without a family, deserves a family. In terms of gay and lesbian foster and adoptive children and parents, many foster family and adoption agencies already ‘accept’ gay and lesbian couples and single parents. In fact, that is exactly what 2006 laws in Massachusetts, 2010 laws in the District of Columbia, and 2011 laws in Illinois took advantage of, the transfer of all cases of adoptions and foster care, from the recently outlawed Catholic Charities, to all of the other agencies that do accept gay and lesbian foster parents. Federal bill H.R. 1681 would do the same nationwide.

So what is the intent of H.R. 1681? It turns out this bill terminates the freedom of Catholics and non-Catholics, to choose Catholic Charities as stewards of their foster and adoptive children. So instead of, as implied by the name above, providing the families that every child deserves, H.R. 1681 or S. 1770 blatantly disenfranchises Catholics and non-Catholics who want to use Catholic Charities as stewards, thus terminating the loop. This also includes all those who want to place their children in Catholic Charities for adoption. So the net effect of this bill is exactly the opposite of what the name implies. This means of deceit, in naming the bill, has the net effect of destruction of public trust in lawmakers.

I therefore propose a new name, the “Catholic Charities- Dump Forever” bill. It could also be called the ‘CCDF’ bill, taking the place of the ‘ECDF’ designation used on Twitter. The ‘Catholic Charities- Dump Forever’ bill discriminates against all (Catholic or not) who want to use Catholic Charities, whether for adopting or becoming foster parents, or for giving up a child for adoption. The Catholic Church’s charitable work, though originating services in some regions of the nascent United States prior to state involvement, is now the target of the gay lobby. The ‘CCDF’ bill is the most unabashed expression yet of a new wielding of power, especially in lieu of all current White House directives targeting Catholics.

(And I’m not a Roman Catholic and don’t agree with all their theology and so what. They aren’t asking for anything more than traditional biblical morality here.)

Sounds like Congress is using the expansive Commerce Clause again.

Allowing homosexuals to adopt children is institutionalized child abuse.

Pete Stark is an avowed atheist and a certified Northern California ultraliberal, so I’m not surprised that he’s proposing this crap. But if he really wanted this passed, he would have pushed it a couple of years ago, when the RATs had big majorities in both the House and Senate. I would be shocked if this bill passed the GOP House. Does it have any Republican co-sponsors?

“Allowing homosexuals to adopt children is institutionalized child abuse.”

Just another attack in the long war on Judeo-Christian values. We’ll have to hope the Hindus, Muslims, and animists inheriting this country will stop it.

I went to your link and, unless I’m mistaken, Stark’s bill has only two co-sponsors: Janice Hahn and Nydia Velazquez, both ultraliberal Democrats (from California and NYC, respectively). http://www.govtrack.us/users/events.xpd?monitors=bill:h112-1681

We need to stay alert, but I don’t think there’s any danger of this bill being voted on, much less passing, any time soon.

It’s about freedom on both sides.

Many young moms who are considering adoption have wishes for their babies....it could be as simple as “I want my baby to have a mom and a dad” - to “I want my baby raised in a (catholic, protestant, mormon, jewish,...etc) home.

The word “marriage” is held sacred by millions.
Just because it has been redefined by some - does not mean it has been redefined in the hearts and minds of millions of americans.

Here is a copy of the co-sponsorship html:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:HR01681:@@@P

There are 85 (out of 435) co-sponsors in the federal House of Representatives; was re-introduced on May 3, 2011 (gained nill support when Pete Stark introduced prior). On August 3, 2011 had 57 cosponsors so gained about 30 co-sponsors in four months.

The gay lobby is working very hard on this with a lot of spin
