Newt is a free thinker and has written prolifically
He has said and done a number of stupid things over time
I am forgiving all that because he is the most conservative ELECTABLE candidate who’s qualified to be president and can communicate clearly with the electorate
I don’t listen to any bashing of Gingrich unless the other person is going to argue who they are FOR as well... because imho all the other candidates are weaker choices than Noot.
Telling the truth is not bashing.
You are certainly free to screen it out of your thinking, but it isn’t bashing.
My support of Governor Perry is well known.
In his book, Newt said FDR was the greatest President of the 20th Century.
What was Ronald Reagan...chopped liver?
FDR couldn’t shine Reagan’s shoes.
Fine, dismiss it and all the rest.
Because you think he can win.
I don’t know if he can or not, but he’s not who I deeply believe should be our standard bearer nor occupy the exhalted position of the Oval Office on my behalf.
And that goes for Calista as First Lady, too.
There, I said it. (Borrowing from the Great One, Levin).
Someone posted this to a Perry thread awhile back. I'll pass it on to you.
Honing in on your point that Newt is a free thinker.
Explaining his tendency to sometimes say stupid things.
Does he have to say them just because they cross his mind, or write them in a book for that reason?
I have a lot of thoughts that might not be ready for sharing with the world, even if I had a megaphone to share them.
So let me phrase it a different way...to me, his problem isn’t that he’s a free thinker, or limited to the fact that he speaks his thoughts out of turn...
Bottom line is his standard of what is appropriate to advance in the public arena is...Newt himself.
He’s his own standard of what should be adopted as a public stance. He thought it was good to lavishly praise Hillary...many have forgotten that...sit with Pelosi about Global Warming, say the era of Reagan is over, say FDR was the greatest, praise Andy Stern of SEIU in his book, and on and on, simply because his mind thought of it, period.
Thought it was ok to take millions from Freddie Mac because he was Newt and they asked him.
Converted to Catholicism as a result of Calista’s influence, when that is the same person he had an affair with and was to become his third wife, and put that forward to the public as proof he’s changed. Can’t seem to see how convoluted that is and might be a political turn off to many.
The Newt standard for Newt...another standard need not apply.
I’ve expressed my views.
Nothing to add.
And my support for Govenor Perry is well known.
