.22 practice ammo 4 cents a round. .38 practice ammo, 24 cents a round. 20 cents a round difference. In only 2,500 rounds of practice .22 ( I used to do that much in a month) you have paid for the revolver.

This is also why people who are serious about pistol practice tend to be reloaders. You can get the price of a reloaded .38 special down to 10 cents a round.
