Winter “Spare the Air” Alert Issued for Monday December 19th [Frisco]
sfgate.com ^ | 19 Dec 2011 | claycord

Posted on 12/19/2011 6:09:14 PM PST by smokingfrog

Wood burning is banned both indoors and outdoors tomorrow, Monday December 19, 2011.

Air quality in the Bay Area is forecast to be unhealthy. It is illegal for Bay Area residents to burn wood or other solid fuels in fireplaces, wood stoves and inserts, pellet stoves, outdoor fire-pits, or other wood-burning devices.

This wood-burning ban will be in effect for Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, southern Sonoma and southwestern Solano Counties.

Winter air pollution is mainly caused by particulates or soot pollution from wood smoke. Smoke from wood-burning fires is linked to illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis and lung disease, and is especially harmful for children and the elderly.

For more information about the Wood Burning Rule, or to check before you burn, visit www.sparetheair.org or call 1-877-4NO-BURN.

Right now it’s 49 degrees in the Bay area and winds are NNW @ 5 MPH.

The smoke blows away.

Light ‘em if you got ‘em. People should ignore this crapp and plead ignorance if questioned.

Ripley: I say we go out into space and nuke the place.

Sane Americans approve of this idea!

A while back the newspaper ran a story about the various ordinances in place in the little towns all over the county. It turned out that my township has the fewest local laws.

When questioned about it, my township supervisor said it would be pointless to try to impose ordinances because the people would mostly ignore them.

We’ll be seeing more of that. Bureaucrats can eat dog dung.

Yes, that is why everyone in the world caught these diseases and died at age 18 up until the middle of the 20th century./SAR I, and my siblings and cousins, grew up breathing smoke from wood fires. It was our main source of heat. Not one of us had any of the listed illnesses. In fact most of the kids I grew up with used wood for heat and most of them, probably 99.9% did not have the above listed illnesses.

This is just another effort, and one that is working in the Bay area, to control people by left wing a**hats.

LOL!
A blog posts an “alert” and an “order” from a .org site?

Trolling for something in particular, smokingfrog?

The funny part is, that since “this” is from SanFrancisco, it is almost believable...

But it's always good to be reminded of exactly why I never spent more than 48 hours in California.

I’ll bet THE SMOKE PATROL is on duty. Their motto is “You can break the rules, but don’t break wind!”
“Well, my fellow city council members, a look at our forecast shows you that some cuts need to be made. In a city as big as San francisco, surely we can find some programs to trim. Let’s start with the police. What do they have?”
“They’re down to three officers and a squirrel with a radar gun.”
“Hmmmmm...seems kind of bloated to me. What’s next?”
“The Smoke Patrol.”
“What about them?”
“3,000 employees each equipped with a BMW.”
“That seems kind of high.”
“They donated a million bucks to the California Democratic Party.”
“OK. Let’s fire the three cops and give the squirrel Jerry Brown to eat.”

Reading the Headline, I assumed the Mayor was shutting down all the Mexican Restaurants for a week and outlawing sales of Beer and Sauerkraut.

Their excuse for this is that the smoke travels to the Central Valley and annoys the people there.

They rely on the ignorance and gullibility of the idiots to further their agenda. But I preach to the choir.

April 25, 1995: Bay Is Largest Area to Meet U.S. Ozone Goals: But region falls short on state rules

Federal regulators gave the Bay Area a clean-air stamp of approval Monday, saying the nine- county region not only meets federal guidelines for smog-forming ozone for the first time, but is the biggest metropolitan area in the nation to make the mark.

[clip]

The only damper is that California has even tougher standards for ozone than the federal government, and the Bay Area exceeded the state standard 14 times last year. ``But in 1969, we exceeded it 90 times,'' said Feldstein, ``so that is a lot of progress.''

CARB has been out of control for 16 years.
