Newt Gingrich Endorsed by Architect of Reagan Economic Plan, Economist Arthur Laffer

Dyersville, IA – Renowned economist, father of The Laffer Curve and supply-side economics, and architect of the Ronald Reagan economic plan, Arthur Laffer, announced his endorsement today of Newt Gingrich for President of the United States.

“Newt has the best plan for jobs and economic growth of any candidate in the field,” said Laffer.

“Like Ronald Reagan’s tax cuts and pro-growth policies, Newt’s low individual and corporate tax rates, deregulation and strong dollar monetary policies will create a boom of new investment and economic growth leading to the creation of tens of millions of new jobs over the next decade. Plus, Newt’s record of helping Ronald Reagan pass the Kemp Roth tax cuts and enacting the largest capital gains tax cut in history as Speaker of the House shows he can get this plan passed and put it into action.”

Mr. Laffer will join Newt Gingrich in Storm Lake, IA Thursday for a formal press conference announcing the endorsement.

“Rebuilding the America we love requires returning to job creation and economic growth. We need big changes to fix the economy, and I am ready to stand up to Barack Obama’s class warfare rhetoric to make the case that letting the American people keep more of what they earn is the best way to create jobs.”

Dr. Laffer received his B.A. in economics from Yale, his MBA and Ph. D. in economics at Stanford. Laffer is the founder and chairman of Laffer Associates, an economic research firm focusing on interconnecting macroeconomics, political and demographic changes affecting global financial markets

Was bound to happen after Cain dropped out. if Perry had been doing great, I think he would have gone with perry. But I think he wants to help Gingrich out in Iowa with the endorsement.

Reports of Newt's demise are greatly exaggerated.

Art Laffer? The guy who in 2006 said the economy “had never been in better shape”, and got absolutely schooled by Peter Schiff??

And no one is exaggerating it any more than Charles Krauthammer - who on Fox News today said that the 2006 newsletter would continue to sink Newt while this Laffer endorsement was almost irrelelvant.

An impressive endorsement. Definitely improves Newt’s chances in the primaries, and the general elections.

Hate to throw cold water on things, but the capital (lending) markets are in such disrepair, whoever wins the WH is in for a big big turd-sandwich of continued problems.

If a Conservative wins, he will be “blamed” for the corrections (read: massive turbulence) necessarily to come for the next few years, as the spending binge is brought under control.

If a republican gets in, he or she will be “blamed” for the corrections necessary to repair the damage done by govt. (Rat) interventions and big unfundable programs promised, over time.

Maybe the Rats should win: at least they will have to ‘own’ and take the blame for all their decades of unsustainable fiscal policies.

What a joke of a post with due respect.

I would suppose that both Schiff and Laffer have schooled many folks over the years, but I find it laughable and childish and really sad that you would try to dismiss the cred of Laffer due to one disagreement he had with Schiff.

I greatly respect both men. I expect they’ve both stepped in it from time to time. With Youtube, we can certainly find it.

And BTW, who is Schiff supporting, if anyone?

I’m losing faith in the objectiveness of the Kraut. The newsletter was easily explained with a simple “I was proven wrong,” while the Laffer endorsement adds to the “stood by Reagan” ad campaign. Gingrich stood BY Reagan, stood AGAINST Bush I, and stood UP to clinton. Center for Transformative Health newsletter? Give me a break...

If a republican gets in, he or she could just say “in keeping the spirit of the previous administration, I inherited a mess, it is not my fault”.

Don’t cry yet, Obomney. There’s still hope for an endorsement from Ron Reagan.
