Grand Rapids - A Michigan man knowingly had unprotected sex with thousands of people whilst diagnosed with HIV, hoping to spread the infection.
Police in Rapid Springs, Michigan, have released information hoping to alert potential victims of a serial philanderer who deliberately had unprotected sex with thousands of people, in an effort to spread HIV. David Dean Smith, 51, turned himself in to Michigan police last week, confessing that he hoped to spread his infection to others.

Sounds pretty Machiavellian for a randomly mutated virus, kicking in the sex drive when infection is most likely to be passed on.
Must’ve been around a long time to have evolved such a survival strategy, if you could describe a virus as really “alive” in the sense of sentience, to survive in the first place.
On a different note, where is Rapid Springs? I know there's Cedar Springs, Harbor Springs, and Berrien Springs. There's Grand Rapids and Big Rapids. I've never even heard of Rapid Springs.

Gay people would have NO idea who their victimizer was because typically such people have many, many sexual parters, in many cases never even knowing their names.

I think you’re correct, in the practical how does one have that much time. I mean if the guy had sex with 5 a day that’s all he could have done for two years.

I looked at his photo at the link and my gaydar immediately went active.
I recall reading the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports from the CDC in 1981 when they still practiced medicine at that outfit. HIV was called the “gay men’s disease” because no causative agent had been discovered and all of these gay boys were coming down with a rare form of cancer called Kaposi’s Sarcoma. KS primarily afflicts people with suppressed immune systems.
The MMWR actually printed the sexual histories of the “victims”. It was surreal. These “men” would hang out at gay bath houses in LA, San Francisco, and New York City and have anal and oral intercourse with up to 60 other “men” each night they went there. They were mostly on the receiving end, of course.
Their medical histories included a long list of infectious diseases - hepatitis, gonorrhea, syphillis, etc., etc., etc. Most of them abused drugs and/or alcohol. Not exactly poster boys for clean living...
Then someone in the goobermint decided that since this disease primarily affected male homosexuals we must spend a gazillion $$$ to identify the causative agent and bestow civil rights upon it so that standard public health measures could not be enacted to control the spread of the disease. This was one of my first realizations that the feral goobermint was completely and utterly corrupt.
Meanwhile, most of the research into ailments that afflict those who do not frequent gay bath houses was put on the back burner. So when you or a relative is dying of heart disease or cancer or Alzheimer’s you know who you can thank for the lack of research into such heterosexual conditions...
