(Alan) Colmes Mocks Santorum's Dead Child
CMR ^ | January 3, 2012 | Matthew Archbold

Posted on 01/03/2012 2:14:34 PM PST by NYer

This absolutely sickens me. It is the lowest of the low. Liberal Alan Colmes mocks Rick Santorum for treating his dead son with dignity.

Colmes was suggesting that voters would shun Santorum once they “get a load of some of the crazy things he’s said and done, like taking his two-hour-old baby when it died right after child birth home and played with it so that his other children would know that the child was real."

Notice the word "it." Colmes said the Santorum's took "it" home. My goodness, even a child that is born is still an "it" to these lunatics.

National Review's Rick Lowry responded to Colmes by saying, “To take something that is that personal and that hurtful as losing a child and mocking it like that … that is beneath you, Alan,” said Lowry. “What you’re saying is contemptible.”

In one of the great heartbreaks of Rick Santorum's life, his wife Karen gave birth to a baby who lived for only a short while. Not allowing the medical staff to take the baby from them, they held the baby and brought the baby home so their other children could say goodbye.

To Rick Santorum, every child should be treated with dignity. For Alan Colmes, a dead child is a punchline to be used for political gain.

Update: Rich Lowry shows a tweet from Colmes saying:
@AlanColmes just spoke to @ricksantorum. He and Karen graciously accepted my apology for a hurtful comment.

I am glad that Colmes apologized but for me it speaks more of the Santorum's that they didn't make political hay of this and just accepted his apology.

Colmes is vile but frankly if this story is as reported...It’s just a tad creepy.

Contemptable, vile, hateful, racist... Yes, once a liberal starts telling you how they really feel it all comes out.

Does this lowlife have any claim to fame other than being on Hannity’s show for a while? What rock did Fox find him under? Fox should NEVER let such a horrible person back on their network again.

“It’s just a tad creepy.”

As Santorum told the story later on FOX, he didn’t take the baby home to “play” with it. Santorum’s wife had spent years as a neonatal nurse and had learned it was important to mark the existence of the child and affirm the place of the child in the family. The baby was taken home, and a memorial service and burial done later that day. It was a beautiful, but sad account of that little life and the effort of the family to deal with their loss.

if you don’t know the sex of the child, I guess “it” could be properly used when referring to the baby

Why would anyone be surprised at Colmes? This is what progressives do. Hell they are not even honest enough to use the actual label of their failed political beliefs Marxist.

In order to gain power for a political system which has been proven a failure in all recorded history, you must lie, cheat, distort, demean, ridicule your opponent in terms that fit into a 15 second sound bite so the mental midgits in this country will not take the time to think.

Were it not for Saul Alinsky tactics Colmes and every other progressive could not hold up their end of a debate for more than 1 second.

Alan Colmes was given the gift of intelligence by the Creator.
His consistent choices to damage that intelligence are evident in almost everything he says. Philosophically, the man is a dunce.

All the more reason to pray for him. Nothing is impossible for God.

My grandmother had 10 kids. One died young ~ 6 or 7 ~ and every Decoration Day she placed flowers on that child's grave, and so did all the siblings, even those born many years after she'd passed on.

My grandmother went through that say the name thing when trying to recall who she wanted to speak about, and she'd always say her daughter's name.

Colmes is not human.

Mrs. Santorum is/was a neonatal nurse.
The baby lived for a short time, they (Mr and Mrs.) held him until he passed, if the kids had been older they would have been there, because they were younger they took the baby home so the kids could say good bye to their brother and the Santorums held a private funeral service for their passed child.
I find nothing creepy about that.
We view our parents and friend who have passed, why not a child.

There is redemption possible for all, thank you Jesus. However, I think for some the admission of sin and asking for the Gift of Grace is harder for some than others.
All we can do is pray for them.

A slightly different perspective on the Colmes outburst:

Alan Colmes' comments on how the Santorums viewed the birth and physical death of their son, Gabriel, may be repulsive, but they are revealing of a deeper void in understanding and indicate the shallow body of thought from which they came.

The Santorums loved the child they knew was being formed inside her body, even before they saw it, and to allow their children, who also looked for its arrival, to see the previously "unseen" gave each of those children the kind of reverence for life they will never forget.

Perhaps that child, who was conceived in love, whose body was created by the great Giver of life, and whose soul returned to its Creator after only a short time, may have served the divine purpose for which it was created in just those few short hours. Even now, its life takes on new meaning, as it becomes part of the current political dialogue.

Psalm 139:

"Verse 13: You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous--and how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
17 How precious are your thoughts about me,[b] O God! They are innumerable!
18 I can't even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up in the morning, you are still with me!
. . . .
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting."
- NLT

So-called "progressive" thought is not as "progressive" as those who are its advocates believe. Views which would limit the natural loving actions of individuals in a family toward loving, embracing and saying goodbye to a new member in the way which is most desirable to that family are not "progressive" at all.

Gabriel was a loved soul, both by his Creator and by his earth family. His life and death now have a meaning that many who have lived to be 90 may not have achieved.

He’s a typical twisted, sick, disgusting, selfish, Liberal sob.
And that is an unintended insult to female dogs everywhere.
