Remember those terrible days of the Imperial Presidency, when George W. Bush made several "recess appointments" to overcome Senate opposition? Well, Czar George II never did attempt what President Obama did yesterday in making recess appointments when Congress isn't even on recess.
Eager to pick a fight with Congress as part of his re-election campaign, Mr. Obama did the Constitutional equivalent of sticking a thumb in its eye and hitting below the belt. He installed Richard Cordray as the first chief of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and named three new members to the National Labor Relations Board. He did so even though the Senate was in pro forma session after the new Congress convened this week.
A President has the power to make a recess appointment, and we've supported Mr. Obama's right to do so. The Constitutional catch is that Congress must be in recess.

WSJ-Obama speaking against the Messiah? What is this world coming to? /s
Congress must remove Obama from office quickly ... try him for treason or get him on the natural born citizen requirement. Impeachment would take too long.
he has contempt for the average American, for the SCOTUS, for Congress... for the Constitution...and next year he’ll know what contempt is......
What is a "recess" - who defines the recess argument.
There is more of a chance of businesses driving law suits than the GOP leading toward a decision. It is an election year - those October surprises cannot come in January.
In the liberal ‘mind’ theres no hypocrisy or contradiction in this. If one is morally, socially and intellectually superior by way of political ideology there is a moral imperative to rule the unwashed inferior masses by edict and force. Conservatives really seem to not understand this. Liberals view themselves as perfectly pure, existing in a plane above the law. They are The Law. We’re not talking demi-gods here but the real McCoy. By decree they pronounce those unfit to live in their presence as unworthies to be used and herded at their whim. This is why Bush or anyone they deem underlings unfit to make even the simplest choice w/o their review and consent. Any questions? This completely explains what we’re seeing these days on govt and society.
It is not for nothing that when I was watching the 2008 nomination for BHO, that I remarked to my sister that his rallies reminded me of Hitler rallies. The fainting women? The people dancing around? The hysteria? I heard that a crowd even applauded as the Messiah blew his nose (though I haven't seen that myself).
Did George Washington, John Adams, James Monroe or Abraham Lincoln ever have crowds that behaved in such a fashion?
It was all so creepy and has lead to a creepy, dictatorial presidency. He started violated the Constitution right off the bat with his interference with the sanctity of contracts... clause.
