Triple Lutz Report--A Fair Well To My Border Collie Baily

A short tribute to man’s best friend, my constant companion for the past 14.5 years, a true loyal friend whom I shall eternally miss. Baily, a female border collie, expert herder, amusing canine and all around great dog. She suffered on for many years because she just couldn’t stand the idea of leaving us. She was always on guard for any potential threat, be it wolves, coyotes or bad people. She was smart, full of life and always ready to help out.

R.I.P. Baily Lutz!

It’s hard to lose our 4 legged members of the family.

So sorry for your loss. Feel good that Bailey passed knowing how much you loved her. So many dogs and cats die every day homeless on the street or in shelters without knowing the love Bailey got from you.

Greive not or speak of me with tears
But smile and laugh as if I were beside you.
I loved you so...
Twas Heaven here with you.

I suspect there is much that could be done that would significantly improve canine health and longevity. Selective breeding has incorporated a lot of recessive genetic problems that could be corrected, and there are many dietary supplements that could add several healthy years before the onset of age related problems.

The end result, in itself a benefit, would be that dogs would remain puppies longer and reach adolescent maturity later. Importantly, dogs have been bred so that they do not reach emotional maturity, as this is an important element of domestication.

Interesting post. I am trying with my 5th Golden to do everything I can to extend his life beyond the 15 or so years I’ve gotten with my 4 previous Goldens. Brushing teeth, cleansing ears, keeping nails clipped, bathing with oatmeal shampoo weekly, taking an exercise run/trot while I bicycle each day. Hearworm/Ivormectin, glucosamine, omega oils, hypoallergenic RX food mixed with cooked grains & veggies. He really likes pot liquor (from cooking greens).

Good grief! Now I feel so guilty about how my previous dogs were treated in the ‘70’s, ‘80’s, and not so much the ‘90’s after Frontline, etc.
I hope they have forgiven me and will happily greet me in heaven.

14.5 years seems like a long time for a dog, yet not nearly long enough. You know she would have stayed even longer, if she could have.

So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. You have my sympathies.
I lost my lovely Lola, a most precious person in a fur coat, last year.

It is so hard to lose a beloved member of the family...you want to keep them with you forever.

I believe that if God wanted us to have such a loving bond with these companion animals, the bond is forever. They go on their way, but at some point that spiritual connection is forever, and if there is a heaven, they surely will be there.

May the angels encamp around you to strengthen you and give you mercy in this difficult time....and may you know the “peace that passes all understanding.”
