Hurricane or Tsunami?: North Carolina coast turns to Tar Hell around time of Magna Carta
The Cosmic Tusk ^ | January 5, 2011 | George Howard

I have always been curious about the lack of documented evidence for a tsunami ever occuring on my home coast of North Carolina. Some of the largest undersea land slides on earth have been documented off our wonderful Outer Banks, and earthquakes are not completely unknown in the Carolinas. Both cause big waves. And more to point for the Tusk, some very credible work has documented cosmically-induced tsunami in the New York and Hudson Valley region, not far away from NC in a regional sense.

I have a brother who lives on Albemarle Sound about 6 inches above sea level. Came through Irene no problem.

I'm the keeper of the Catastrophism and Godsgravesglyphs keywords -- and while I didn't add them to this topic, they fit.

There has been some excellent documentaries on the History Channel, regarding earthquakes and tsunamis.
Check it out:
http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/tsunami/tsunami.html

I am under the impression that the killer tsunamis are generated very far...thousands of miles away from where they make impact.

I have been looking at many documentaries on Earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis.
Many single events have drastically changed Earth and civilizations.
Nobody, however, can predict when and where it will again happen.

Yes, I should have made my last post more clear.
I am referring to seismic events that could wipe out the entire east coast, or entire states.
The wave seems to amplify with distance traveled, and according to the program that I watched, they traverse an entire ocean, growing larger with distance.
Their main concern was seismic areas off the coast of Africa.

I watched the videos of the Kobe Tsunami, and yes, that quake
was not so far offshore.

On the subject of a “Magna Carta Tsunami”, this was an intersting link from that article:

That’s right, Ben. The links are much better than the post, and confirm a disconnected swirl of evidence something transatlantic happened around this time.
