Swedish Satanic Rock Band Begins US Tour This Month

A satanic rock band from Sweden known as Ghost is planning a 13-stop tour in America beginning in New York City on January 18.

The band, whose keeps the names of its members anonymous, is actually a devil-worshiping ministry that features a lead singer who calls himself “Papa Emeritus” and dresses up as a kind of satanic pope in a skull mask and cardinal’s robes. Their “13 Dates of Doom” tour in the U.S. will include two other “doom rocker” bands, Blood Ceremony and Ancient Wisdom.

Their flyers advertise the tour in this way:

“In the name of Satan, we will conduct thirteen rituals in thirteen different cities throughout the United States and Canada and now we are summoning all of our devotees to partake in these blasphemous eves of black magic.”

It’s not satanic, it’s entertainment. Now Katy Perry? That b*tch is satanic.

So, they pretty much draw on the same demographics as Spinal Tap?

At one time Elvis Pressley was thought to be satanic. The Beatles as well.

Just because we might not like a form of entertainment does not make it “Da debil!” I follow Christ. I am a church goer.

I also like to break up the homogeny of the contemporary Christian music that I listen to with some stuff that would curl your toes.

Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, WASP, Motley Crue, Disturbed, AC/DC and several others.

I do not worship satan, I worship Jesus Christ.

Their “prayer” is a spoof of the Creed prayed at every Catholic Mass. Read the lyrics. If that’s not evil & Satanic, what is??

This is not entertainment. It is evil. If you are unable to discern that, then I will pray for you.

Pretty sad they are very deceived thinking they will party in hell when in reality, it is a hotter than a fire pit, very dark and also very lonely place ! No Christ, no peace for these folks !

>a bad attempt at imitating the old Mercyful Fate/King Diamond shtick.<

Add a dash of Morbid Angel, Bathory and Celtic Frost (yeah, I listened to black metal in my moody, angry teen days), but the difference was that I didn’t go out, sacrifice and drink blood or even pretend to say “I love satan!” like these losers who were swept up with it. I moved on to faster types of death metal such as Slayer and Cannibal Corpse.

And maybe the real reason why I moved to Metalica back then because a lot of hot goth chicks in school were into it and I used “And Justice For All” to get lucky (cough)

They are doing it for attention. What is the best way as a no-name foreign rock band to get that attention than to attack “the church?”

I was right there with ya. I listened to most of that stuff too. I liked some of the music well enough, but was never terribly interested in the whole occult/satanic side of the scene. Some of it was neat in a dark, rebellious sort of way I suppose, but it just never appealed to me and I mostly moved on to more mainstream hard rock/metal.

When I read this article I actually went and found this band, Ghost, on youtube and listened to their stuff. I can say they are really, truly terrible. I'm not saying that as some old guy who can't appreciate alternative styles of music either. I see what they are trying to copy, and they just do a terrible job of it. There is nothing original or interesting about any of the stuff I heard and we will likely never read or hear about them again.

Many people believe that all Rock and Roll is satanic, but that involves some degree of speculation. No such speculation is required for bands that openly proclaim themselves to be satanic.

I have known real Satan worshipers. They were all fans of hard-core satanic music and fully believed that this music was intended to promote satanism. It is naive to imagine that real satanism does not exist and does not promote itself through satanic music.

Yup. It only appealed to me 1) because it was rebellious 2) had faster, heavier riffs and 3) made me cooler with the other kids because I was not one of them. My uncle even had Venom and I liked it. Well, it all changed when I first bought out of my own pocket money GNR’s Appetite for Destruction’ and I changed my preference in the genre.

Same thing happened when I bought my first Mantovani record.

Of course real statnism exists. I would never deny that. My question would be; “were the members of this band satanists BEFORE they were a band?”

Because if NOT, then it’s a stunt to gain notoriety and make money.

Consider the Christian bands. Presumably, not every member is a genuine believer, but most probably are and they use lyrics to promote their message. The same principles would apply to satanic bands.

If you acknowledge that satanists exist, why presume they are not involved in satanic music?

I used to like some of the riffs in satanic music, but no longer listen for the sake of my soul.
