The execution of citizens of the town of Bochnia by the Germans during the occupation of Poland, 18 December 1939. Fifty-six people were executed that day in an exercise of "government monopoly of violence."
Three Death Penalties for Prohibited Arms Possession.
A special German court in Zamość [near Krakow] sentenced to death 19 year-old Franciszek Pokrywka of Powieki, 27 year-old Iwan Zilnyk and 35 year-old Paweł Huzar, both of Ułazów, for prohibited possession of firearms as well as for violating the duty to report possession of firearms.
Pokrywka had an automatic pistol with six cartridges and, despite the universally-known order about surrendering the arms, he did not give it up. Sometime later he sold the pistol to Zilnyk, who a few days after that offered the firearm for sale to Huzar, who, though he did not buy it, still failed to fulfill his duty to report it to the proper authorities.
The above-mentioned death sentences have already been carried out. -- Nowy Kurjer Warszawski [New Warsaw Courier], Jan. 22, 1941, quoted in Stephen Halbrook's Citizens in Arms.
I've been scanning a lot of Stephen Halbrook's work lately, trying to find the right chapter heading quotes for Absolved. Particularly impressive is his The Swiss & The Nazis: How the Alpine Republic Survived in the Shadow of the Third Reich.

"IF you come for my guns, I will kill you."
If your firearms are registered through say a concealed carry license, background check at purchase or even giving an address while buying ammunition you and your location are on a government list. If the government wants your guns they will show up at a time of their convenience and in a strength they think is needed to work their will upon you. The old saying “When the government fears the people there is freedom and when the people fear the government there is tyranny” is true. Right now the first part is mostly true but we are progressing toward the second part with each new gun law and regulation.
They are making one miscalculation. We are not European Jews, Canadians, or Aussies.
If confiscation is tried here, there will be violence.
Showing up in force, at a time they like,,ultimately effective, yes,, but it will not prevent violent resistance by Americans.
It’s very predictable.
Those poor unfortuanate Poles should have used that semi-auto and six rounds to execute six Nazis. Rounding up compliant europeans was one easy,,, dealing with the Warsaw ghetto was not. Writ large, such resistance would have ruined the Germans. Ditto for the bolsheviks.
Was there any violence by Americans in New Orleans when the government thugs came and took theirs?
At that point, I wouldn't be home when they came knocking.
At that point, I'd be out hunting.
Molon Labe beoytches.
We've learned a few lessons since then.
Not the best example.
90% of the city was evacuated, more than half of it was flooded and the people that did ride the storm out there were *scared*.
Let door-to-door confiscation be attempted in a fully populated, non-disaster-ravaged area where the people are angry rather than frightened. That's the test cast that we're waiting for, and the government hasn't tried it yet. Katrina was a training exercise, though. For both sides.
I disagree. While the people possessing the guns may try to fight back, the LEOs can control the message that gets out to the public.
When you mention the names, Randy Weaver or David Koresh, the public automatically associates the people with the description put out by the LEOs through a compliant media.
Few in the public bother to look into the truth of what really happened. Hardly anyone knows that the ATF set up Weaver and Koresh and packed the affidavits used to obtain arrest warrants with lies.
When these individuals fought back, the LEOs isolated them and prevented the truth from getting out to the general public.
The following excerpt from the House investigation has relevence given the current Republican investigation into Fast and Furious.
House of Representatives Report 104-749 8/2/96 Committee of Government Reform & Oversight "..."The staff also had an opportunity to inspect the physical evidence taken from the ruins of the residence after the fire, much of which had been used in the criminal trial of surviving Davidians. By prior agreement with the Justice Department, a potential witness at the hearings, Failure Analysis Associates, Inc., was to inspect some of the physical evidence in order to respond to tampering allegations. It was believed that the views of scientists from Failure Analysis, who had often performed scientific evaluations for the Federal Government, including the Justice Department and NASA after the Challenger explosion, would be beneficial given public suspicions about the firearms recovered from the site of the Davidian residence. The inspection would not have damaged the weapons and was to have been conducted in the presence of all parties. It was hoped that the inspection would determine whether the Davidians had attempted to alter legal, semi-automatic weapons by converting them into illegal, automatic weapons as the ATF had alleged, and whether any of this evidence had been altered after it was gathered from the destroyed Davidian residence. When the scientists arrived in Austin, the Department declined to make the firearms available to them. The Department agreed instead to conduct the tests itself and present its findings to the subcommittees. A short time later, the Department urged, for cost considerations, that the tests not be performed. As a result, no tests were performed on the firearms." ..."
The public has a distorted view of the current crop of LEOs. ATF agents raiding the Branch Davidian ranch were killed. Despite the fact that lies were told to obtain the arrest warrants and Texas has laws on the books that allow citizens to protect themselves from unjustified assaults by LEOs, some of the BDs were still tried and convicted in federal court of killing the ATF agents.
Shooting and killing LEOs will only be used against those attempting to defend themselves, no matter how justified the defense.
But only the police and military have a need to have guns....
During the gun registration arguments in th ‘70s, one WWII vet said that it was eay to disarm people in Europe. The soldiers just got a list from the magistrate’s office and went around collecting them.
A Norwegian who went through Nazi occupation replied that the Germans were more efficient. They just posted a notice that ALL firearms were to be turned in. Thenceforth, anyone found having a firearm would be summarily executed. Worked like a charm.
As to the authorities coming to your house, I think they will just issue warrants and let the local police take their chances. They’ll just wait until you are out driving, randomly run your plate and think up an excuse to pull you over, and arrest you. A lot of times guys are out with their girlfriend, wife, kiddies, etc. and wouldn’t risk a firefight.
OR, put your vehicle’s license number in a BOLO list and start trolling. Lots of ways to pick you off one by one without too much fuss.
I can not understand the passive ‘knell on my knees’ attitude to taking a bullet to the back of the head. If I am going to die anyway, stand up and spit in their face. There should be some sign of a struggle.
At least one National Guard unit refused to follow orders.
Many state laws were passed in response, forbidding the practice in the future.
All is not lost.
In a national emergency those laws can more than likely be overridden on grounds of national security.

I recall seeing interviews of Toole and Lucas. You could immediately see that there was something dangerously wrong with them. You could sense it, and it didn't take a clairvoyant to see it. They were the kind of people you instinctively avoided during chance encounters at highway rest stops or neighborhood bars. All the alarm bells would go off the minute they spoke. There's far too many of them walking loose among us even now, and they're the reason I never travel anywhere unarmed.

Our founding fathers knew the boot - and did what they could to protect us from it. Every four to eight years the main person in power in our wonderful country gives up power - voluntarily. One of these days, the pigs in both parties will have worked their dark magic to maintain themselves in power - and we'll need to be ready.
