IMV, if they could have ANYONE they wanted, it would be Jeb Bush.
Romney is first, though, because he’s been there, running, for years.
And with Jeb being another Bush, they figure he has to wait until after Romney.
These others...Chris Christie, Mitch Daniels, Jon Huntsman, are merely second best subs...Romney before Jeb because of order of sucession and image problems with the Bush name, but ultimately, it is Jeb Bush they want.
And yes, they WILL do WHATEVER it takes.
They were determined to take out the field of non Romneys.
In Newt’s case, I don’t think they saw that one coming.
They knew he didn’t have organization and money, and he had both political and personal baggage, but he shocked them by suddenly catching fire though his debate performances.
That is unforgivable...to shock them by surging past their annointed one.
This is their response to that...the hammer coming down.

And it boils down to the fact that the Establishment didn’t realize how MAD conservatives are and how many of us there are.
