Over at Hot Air, Wolf Howling penned a comment that perfectly sums up my feelings about the Florida primary.
I’ve spent the last few weeks watching Romney run the most intellectually dishonest campaign against Gingrich that I could imagine. Romney isn’t making the case that he has a better conservative pedigree, nor that his vision for America is superior or more conservative than Gingrich’s. He spent 17 million doing nothing but trying to delegitimize and demonize Gingrich with gross distortions of history. I haven’t seen anything like this since what the left did to Sarah Palin. And the last time anything like this occurred in the Republican Party, it was the cannibalization of Goldwater in 1964.
For the past two decades in which I have been politically informed and active, I have always believed that the single starkest difference between the left and the right was intellectual honesty. We on the right had it while those on the left dealt mostly in demagoguery and demonization. We on the right were ever willing to debate the facts, those on the left were ever willing to cherry pick the facts, distort the facts, and then use the race card or its many variants to end debate. To use the words of Bookworm Room: “Conservatives deal with facts and reach conclusions; liberals have conclusions and sell them as facts.” That illusion is now shattered.
At this point, I wouldn’t vote for Romney for dog catcher even if he was running in a three way race against Lenin and Marx. I will support Republican candidates for Congress and the Senate. But I could not, at this point, vote for any man as scurrilous and underhanded as Romney for President.
I’m in complete agreement.

I completely agree with the post. Romney has done a horrible job of selling himself to the voters. Instead, he’s relying heavily on preconceived notions of who and what he is, to win votes.
I must add, that this is a phrase that will launch a thousand taglines:

Are you saying that Gingrich did not sit on a bench to promote global warming with Nancy Pelosi? Are you saying that Gingrich did not accept George Soros' money for that ad? Are you saying that Gingrich was not the first Speaker of the House to be reprimanded (by a 395-28 vote!)? Are you saying that Gingrich was not paid $1.6 million for consulting by Freddie Mac [snicker, snicker]?

I think you’re being very unfair to Willard! His campaign wasn’t completely negative. He run one positive ad in Florida...

If you look at the map of who won what county it becomes obvious that Mitt will lose thirty of the thirty-three counties he won to Obama. He won the liberal counties while Newt won all of the conservative counties.
But the GOP is not going to abide by their OWN rules in Fla. They will still award the delegates to Mitt

Folks, all I can say is we are being had. That includes the Santorum campaign if you want to call it that. Rick can afford to run anti-Newt adds but can’t afford to get on the ballot in some states. That just does not make any sense unless you are now in it to be a spoiler. The RINOs are playing us Conservatives like a fiddle.

FM and FM released the contracts between Gingrich Group and Gingrich - prohibited from lobbing. His relationship with them is exactly what he said it was. Oh, this payment was over a ten year period, you know that period when Romney was laying off people and shutting down companies.
Gingrich was investigate and every charge but one was dismissed, that one was dismissed by the IRS.

IT’s in the lawyers hands. Michael Steele was president when the rule passed and he said yesterday that the vote must be divided. Fl state GO PEe received a letter dated in the past couple of months from the current president of the national GOP saying that if the voted before April 1 the vote must be divided....IOW APRIL FOOLS Mitt!

Yes the immediate past AG of FL is his campaign manager there. He is taking care of all the legal actions. The main problem is the feed they are giving to the MSM....FOLKS TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME. They are trying to play the Axelrod/Alinsky step of making us believe we’re losing and disheartening us.
I was married to a newspaper guy, I know how the media works. They’re so lazy and hardly ever write anything for themselves: Just type or cut and paste materials that are given to them.

I basically said same to some folks in THE PARTY this week.
They frothed at the mouth and almost went postal on me.
Freepers, we are going to have to steel ourselves for what’s coming between now and November. Who knew that we would have two foes to fight: Hussein and his brother, Bushy Brows on the one hand and add to that impressive duo the FORMERLY GRAND ol’party.

Catherine, I have been trying to find out more on this..it has been rather hushed up in the msm. Have found confusing and mixed messages. Read that the chairman of the national gop said that since Fla waived half of their delegates they did not have to divide..heard differently from Newt saying the AG was looking into it. They seem to be playing “The Waiting Game” Maybe we should all write a letter of complaint to the National Republican Party

hoosiermama, would be great if this was settled before super tuesday. Heard Priebus (current chair of the national republican party) say that since Fla waived half of their delegates by voting early the winner take all still applied. Would love to get to the bottom of this! it’s worse than fuzzy math.
