Army Silenced Chaplains Last Sunday (about HHS mandate on abortion)
The Corner/National Review ^ | February 3 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

In Catholic churches across the country, parishioners were read letters from the pulpit this weekend from bishops in their diocese about the mandate from the Department of Health and Human Services giving Catholics a year before they’ll be required to start violating their consciences on insurance coverage for contraception, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs. But not in the Army.

A statement released this afternoon — which happens to be the 67th anniversary of the sinking of the USS Dorchester, on which four chaplains lost their lives – from the Archdiocese for Military Services explains:

I do wonder who in the Obama Admin thought this was a good idea to push during an election year? How exactly would it help him? He won the Catholic vote in 2008, but even before this, it would have been an uphill climb this year (as with most groups excluding blacks). This is just so ham-fisted.

He is probably confident he will be opposed by Bishop Willard Romney. That will be more of a distraction than a struggle, so why not continue to push this? Besides, Bishop Willard Romney is the father of American tax payer funded abortion, so there will be little he could say about it without looking absurd.

"Additionally, the line: “We cannot — we will not — comply with this unjust law” was removed by Archbishop Broglio at the suggestion of Secretary McHugh over the concern that it could potentially be misunderstood as a call to civil disobedience."

Nothing to be misunderstood. In my view it was a clear call for civil disobedience. It's exactly what we should do in the face of this heinous mandate.

I should add that Lightworker Obama seems to be deliberately driving good people out of the military, or getting them killed. A changing of the guard for obvious reasons, IMO.

Then, broadcast the text of this letter far and wide, on military and military-friendly sites. First, they came for the unborn. Now, they come for the Catholics:

“Via Business Insider, the full letter from the Bishop of Marquette, read in church Sunday, is below.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

I write to you concerning an alarming and serious matter that negatively impacts the Church in the United States directly, and that strikes at the fundamental right to religious liberty for all citizens of any faith. The federal government, which claims to be “of, by, and for the people,” has just been dealt a heavy blow to almost a quarter of those people — the Catholic population — and to the millions more who are served by the Catholic faithful.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that almost all employers, including Catholic employers, will be forced to offer their employees’ health coverage that includes sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception. Almost all health insurers will be forced to include those “services” in the health policies they write. And almost all individuals will be forced to buy that coverage as a part of their policies.

In so ruling, the Obama Administration has cast aside the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, denying to Catholics our Nation’s first and most fundamental freedom, that of religious liberty. And as a result, unless the rule is overturned, we Catholics will be compelled to either violate our consciences, or to drop health coverage for our employees (and suffer the penalties for doing so). The Obama Administration’s sole concession was to give our institutions one year to comply.

We cannot—we will not—comply with this unjust law. People of faith cannot be made second class citizens. We are already joined by our brothers and sisters of all faiths and many others of good will in this important effort to regain our religious freedom. Our parents and grandparents did not come to these shores to help build America’s cities and towns, its infrastructure and institutions, its enterprise and culture, only to have their posterity stripped of their God given rights. In generations past, the Church has always been able to count on the faithful to stand up and protect her sacred rights and duties. I hope and trust she can count on this generation of Catholics to do the same. Our children and grandchildren deserve nothing less.

And therefore, I would ask of you two things. First, as a community of faith we must commit ourselves to prayer and fasting that wisdom and justice may prevail, and religious liberty may be restored. Without God, we can do nothing; with God, nothing is impossible. Second, I would also recommend visiting www.usccb.org/conscience, to learn more about this severe assault on religious liberty, and how to contact Congress in support of legislation that would reverse the Obama Administration’s decision.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

+Alexander K. Sample
Most Reverend Alexander K. Sample
Bishop of Marquette”

Which is one of the reasons why I left the military chaplain assistant job I had many years ago. When they told me I'd have to support satanic worship services I balked, told them no way would I do that, and thus ended my military career.

Hey now, stop including “witches” with that decidedly anti-USA grouping of ignorant idiots, advocates of true evil, and the tiny minority of one specific human sexual pervert group YOUR society elevated to an “important minority” worthy of attention, soley due to their sexual perversions.

Nothing in the long histories of pagans, witches and deists have ever indicated a tolerance for any of the above.

And pagans/witches/deists have been denied “free speech” for several tens of centuries.Even in the USA.

The One sees no downside to his actions, and a possible upside in trashing Catholics, the most easily trashed of all religious groups that sold out their principles for a piece of his "hope and change".

This is actually a bigger victory than even Bill Clinton hoped for when, as chaplain-in-chief, he ordered all military chaplains to not preach against abortion. So instead, they preached about his ham-handed orders, giving him a black eye that required massive coverup so nobody would notice.

This time, 0bama and his oh-so-clever minions play with "cute" definitions, and aim it against what they hope will be the most despised religion in America, Roman Catholicism. Never mind that it's an assault against the First Amendment's freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of conscience, he's offering an easy out to other groups, that for whatever reason, take the same position as Catholics. "Keep quiet, and we'll accept your surrender in silence later".

This is what to expect from a bunch of elitists who figure they are the pinnacle of human progress, and rule over us while the untermensch still have a role in their plans.

Yes

A line has been crossed. It will not stand. Time to teach people that they can only go so far.

This is it.

No more and no further.

I exited the military in 1992. It was either 1991 or 1992 the events I spoke of transpired.
