Please discuss when, if, how, and should the alliance between Newt and Rick take place. Will it help defeat Romney? What about Obama?
It would 10% defeat Romney- but Snatorum threw a hissy fit when Gingrich suggested it and that kills that
It would have been GREAT for the COUNTRY, instead he was only concrned about himself
The correct seuence MUST BE Gingrich (8 years) then Santorum (another 8)
What is your source for Santorum’s hissy fit?
How about Santorum get the hell out of it. He is a lightweight and a numbnuts. He is doing nothing but massaging his own ego while helping Romney/Obama at the same time.
>> Will it help defeat Romney? <<
Only if Gingrich withdraws and throws his full support to Santorum.
I say this because I understand a couple of surveys have shown that if Santorum withdraws, only about half his supporters would go over to Gingrich. The other approximate half — who presumably are religious folks turned off by Gingrich’s sexual immorality — seemingly would go over to Romney.
Would be nice. Really wish Santorum would do the right thing. It would only benefit him in the future. I can’t figure out for the life of me why he won’t inite with Newt. I’ve done everything — have written letters myself. Nothing seems to get through.
It’s really sad for America — and he of all people I would have never expected it from.
I also personally feel we need to reach out to Paul voters — not on the defense issues, but at least on economic issues.
It would go a long way.
The other approximate half who presumably are religious folks turned off by Gingrichs sexual immorality seemingly would go over to Romney.
It seems we’re caught between all out irreligious Obama voters and, on the other end, overaly sanctimonious and judgemental, non-forgiving religious folks on the other side.
We Americans can’t win.
There is at least one state that has Santorum leading and Newt is not on the ballot. Those delegates may be useful to Newt. Or do you suggest they just go to Romney?
FOrgot about that and in VA it will be Paul against the Bishop.
I hate to break it to you, but here’s how the GOP expects it to work:
* Santorum beats up Gingrich, allowing Romney to win (except in Missouri, which will allow Santorum to look credible).
* Gingrich gets out of the race, possibly endorsing Santorum.
* Santorum stays on the ballot a for a couple of months, in an undamaging, media-friendly Huckabee style, and then when the game is mathematically lost, he gets out and endorses his honorable friend Mitt Romney.
The polls say Santorum would do better with Gingrich out than Ginrich would do with Santorum out. Probably best for Newt to leave.
Did anybody see the Jay Leno skit where they showed a man and a woman advocating a Dating Club for Married people or people already in one relationship? At the close of the Ad you saw Newt saying “I am Newt Gingrich and I approved this Ad”. That follows on Newts 23% vote from Married women in Florida. He doesn’t have a chance carrying this kind of baggage. He should throw his support to Santorum.
It should happen when Newt leaves the campaign and backs Rick. The GOP will NOT nominate someone whose experience is all House. This is also why Paul won’t be nominated. For good or ill, this is undeniable.
I’d rather see a current or former governor still in to challenge The Annointed Nominee, but I don’t currently have that, nor could I stand the thought of President Mitch Daniels.
I fear for our country unless we can talk Mrs. Palin out of exile, or talk General Petraeus into one more term of service.
We need someone who will lay the finger alongside his nose before the President does, who appears large in public presence, but makes the individual voter feel large also.
What’s to discuss? Santorum has gone out of his way to paint Gringrich as a corrupt hack. Payback would be appropriate.
There is a misunderstanding of what I what, perhaps. I do not want EITHER candidate to drop out. They both must stay in to give the best chance to beat Romney since both candidates are not in all states. They should tell their supports that the one with the most delegates gets Pres., the one with second most delegates gets VP. They will then vote strategically as required.
Hey Lucas: “THE RIFLEMAN” grew sour on me. The bad guys continued to make their threats even when Lucas had his Winchester pointed at then. The writers kinda thought that the viewers were stupid. Unfortunately, this primary is turning out the same way. The bottom line? I would be willing to lose with Santorum but not Romney-With Romney it becomes ‘here we go again.’ Gingrich? He is more likely to go down fighting because of his temperment. The key words are ‘go down.’
Newt would be the better VP-delegates notwithstanding. The experienced, Dick Cheney type. Rick could be the steady one. After 4 years Rick (or the Delegates) could choose the next VP(successor).
Santorum is not actually running for the Republican nomination. He is running to stop Gingrich from contending for the Republican nomination.
In his defense, he may not realize this himself. The best stalking horse doesn't know he's a stalking horse.
No surrender to the frat boy.
Propping up Romney is unforgivable!
Let the money dry up and he evaporates right on time.
Newt Gingrich needs to form an alliance with all planks of U.S. conservatism, while reaching out to all worldwide conservatism, too! This is the ongoing battle between conservatism and non-conservatism, and true conservatism wins the majority of U.S. elections!
So if the two of them were on the same ticket, there's a real chance that Virginia's electors would have to spoil their Vice-Presidential ballots, and the VP election would be thrown to the Senate. You would then need 51 Senators to elect a VP choosing among the top two candidates, and also a quorum of 67 Senators would need to be present. A bit of a mess.
“Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rick Santorum Leads President Obama”
So they'd rather vote FOR a guy who has demonstrably promoted open embrace and self-declaration of homosexuality among children via Gay Youth Pride, than a man who has sinned, repented, and tried to make right with the Lord.
Talk about broken moral compasses. One candidate, Gingrich, exhibits very human moral failings and efforts to make them right, while the other -- the one these supposedly MORAL folks would vote for -- exhibits clear moral depravity.
It seems to me these people would be voting for Romney AGAINST the values of Christianity, but entirely in keeping with vanity, ego, and pride. Such self-righteous Santorum supporters would be voting very twisted values, indeed.
GODSPEED NEWT GINGRICH.
IMHO there is more going on behind the scenes than we know. I sincerely doubt that Rick will help Newt. I think Rick is kowtowing to the RINO establishment. He is looking down the road and does not want to upset any future chances he has. That is why he is running the anti-Newt adds. If he was truly going after the Presidency it would make since to go after the front runner Mitt Romney and slow him down. Rick does not appear to be doing that.
According to you, Santorum's devout Christians are the type that instead of voting for a Christian divorced man, they want to vote for a leader in an anti-Christian cult, a pro-abortion/gay marriage icon, an aggressive, pro homosexual agenda leader, a Bishop who in his mind knows that he will become God, and who wants to use this presidential run to convert Christians away from Christianity and into his cult membership, and who is thought to fulfill prophecy for the cult?
I can see why Santorum was a Romney man last time, and is believed to be his stalking horse this time.
Pretty simple. He let the cat out of the bag when he was schmoozing with Dobson the other day. Rick Santorum has a grandiose paranoid delusion that he was "told by God" to run for the presidency. He said it himself.
When you think you are literally The Annointed One, you don't compromise or make deals with ordinary mortals.
There was a time when Americans really did think it was better to 'go down fighting' than to suck shit on their knees. Apparently that time has just about passed.
“Pretty simple. He let the cat out of the bag when he was schmoozing with Dobson the other day. Rick Santorum has a grandiose paranoid delusion that he was “told by God” to run for the presidency. He said it himself. “
I seem to remember Pat Robertson running for president because God told him to. That really worked out well.
Hey, it ain't “according to” me. It's “according to” the polls. So if you wanna shoot the messenger, don't shoot at me. Shoot the pollsters!
Wow. Ok, well — you can’t fight that, then.
Honestly, we need psychiatric screenings of these candidates before they get on the ballots.
Where is that Poll or polls, I would like to look at it and see what it it has to say.
The closest these two are getting to the White House is to take a tour.
Didn’t you see the interview after Newt asked him to step aside? It was not very presidential.
It did not help either of them in Florida.
He should team up and announce they will be Pres/VP team if they win.
Gingrich is not bound by anything, of course, but he wldnt dare go back on his word.
And Gingrich made a BRILLIANT SPEACH after winning in SC. Where he embraced Ron Pau;s idea’s on The Fed, and hinted at a cabinet position on that for him. He should also praise him for his steering the party back to fundamental constitutional matters, but just say he disagrees that foreign policy is NOT a US matter (our defense depnds on some of it)
Newt just destroyed Rick by ~450,000 votes in NH, SC and FL. You are delusional.
I just know that I will NEVER forget Santorum’s selfishness as long as I live.
And as far as him being the spokesperson for the unborn, you can forget it. He will no more protect the unborn through his actions that will Obama.
What a ginormous FAKE.
