The odd creature was discovered by Percy and Connie Emert in Jeresey Shore, PA on Sunday.
We have bird feeders out in our yard, and the squirrels are constantly into them, Connie told Accuweather.com. My husband traps them and then sets them free elsewhere so they dont get into your bird feeders.
She said she had seen the little creature on the property before, but no one would believe her.
I kept telling my husband I saw a purple one out in the yard. Oh sure you did he kept telling me, she added. Well, he checked the trap around noon on Sunday and sure enough, there it was.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the squirrel, but I don’t want to give Beck the hit.
Must’ve gotten into some dye. Paint would’ve clumped his fur.
Bush’s fault or Globull warming?
It looks like a gray squirrel that’s freezing its a** off.
Don’t forget some municipal workers in PA sprayed painted a couple of squirrels orange before letting them go a few years ago.
“My husband traps them and then sets them free elsewhere so they dont get into your bird feeders.”
A death sentence for the squirrels in the Winter. Without being able to return to their nest, they’ll freeze to death.
Right up there with Bigfoot, UFOs and the lost continent of Atlantis.

The pics are on Facebook and elsewhere.
It’s Tinky Winky!
I think it’s part of a new marketing ploy: EASTER SQUIRRELS!
Release one or two, just to whet everyone’s desire to have one
“I had thought a purple squirrel was made from grape kool-aide and peanut schnapps.”
Make it in the bathtub and put a big chunk of dry ice in the middle and you have a purple Jesus. Granted we use Everclear and Fanta Grape soda.
Thank you, houeto!
I never saw a purple squirrel.
I’d never hoped to see one.
Purple, brown, boy or girl,
I’d rather see than be one.
oh great...now the entire state of PA will be declared a “protected” area by the tree-huggers.
They’ll go to court to have the purple squirrel declared an “endangered species”.
Everybody will have to move out of PA.
There are both pure white squirrels (not albinos) and black squirrels (zoo escapees) in DC. Have existed for decades.
Looks like this purple guy was living in a spray painting facility or has eaten something very strange.
Maybe some graffiti artists tagged him.
Yeah, this is big news at The Blaze today... a Purple Squirrel? Really??? Doncha know they are Big Santorum supporters over there!? sarc.
After Rick’s 3 state Sweep, they mentioned it, very unenthusiastically, in One Sentence on Beck’s radio program today. When Romney won Nevada, they sounded giddy with excitment. I turned it off before something set Glenn off and he started crying. What transparent phonies they are.
I have white squirrels ( DC suburbs) no one in my family believes me!!!
I would love a purple one.

Proof!!!!
Saw them regularly when I rode a commuter bus through DC.
I agree. I was wondering about their reaction to Santorum’s wins, so that answers my question.
I turned the show on briefly today to see if Glenn might issue an apology or even mention the nasty piece about Sarah Palin that ran on the Blaze, but I didn’t hear anything at all. But then, the radio wasn’t on for long, because when Glenn started with the pious stuff about the Blaze’s HIGH MORAL STANDARDS AND ETHICS, I switched it off.
You’re welcome.
thanks! They are pretty cool but i am a wildlife lover.
Some kids in the neighborhood dunked the squirrel in a bucket of dye, and now they’re laughing their ***** off.
That’s nothing, I hear there’s a purple elephant in Cheswick.
somebody caught it in a trap and dunked it into a tub of purple dye.....
I trap squirrels and cats and while they're in the cage, I spray paint them. If I catch the squirrels again, I relocate them. If they're a neighbor's cat then they get the message. If they're feral and I catch them again, they too get relocated.......
Criticize me if you want but it's better than killing them.........
They just discovered the creature and they already know that his name is See?

Some of these are as big as domestic cats.

Nice to see it's still there!

Nice to see it's still there!
Looks like my fraternity brothers at work with spray cans again!
Looks a bit more lavender.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
