The InSantorum Illusion
Wordpress ^ | 09 Feb 2012 | WisdomDepot

Apart from not having the first delegate commitment, exactly what have “victories” in Iowa, Missouri, Colorado and Minnesota acknowledged?

First, that participants in caucuses are underwhelmed to voice their solidarity with their higher ground constituents. This “group think” forum is void, by necessity, of critical thought. This is not to say that the caucus forum is the antithesis of the primary process. It is always much easier when espousing your “heartfelt commitment” to an issue to take the high road when exposed to the crowd in a non-binding farcical display. These same “voters” will doubtlessly “rethink” that stance when confronted with the isolation of a voting booth. It’s easy to sound righteous in a public forum. Even easier when that cry is meaningless. It’s an entirely different matter when the fate of one’s country hangs in the balance.

Writer shuts eyes and plugs ears while muttering to self “It didn’t matter, it didn’t matter, it didn’t matter”

Santorum has won 4 states.

That is not an illusion. That is reality.

Who cares if caucuses are useful or not. The primary contests on Tuesday were a game changer. Rick is raising cash and making news and Mittens is wandering around whining that Newt and Rick are closet Libs. It also showed that Mittens is incredibly weak and doesn’t really deserve front runner status.

I don’t support Santorum, and I have found that now, on FR, it has become a dangerous thing to admit to.

So, let the nastiness and name-calling begin.

Welcome to the world of the non Newt supporters.

You have got to be kidding. This was Newt Land. They even had a slogan... Newt: Join or Die.

They meant it. I wonder how many Santorum supporters were zotted?

"The primary contests on Tuesday were a game changer. Rick is raising cash and making news and Mittens is wandering around whining…"
Agreed, but I can't attach any significance to it apart from the money Rick will raise and the insatiable appetite of the legacy media being fed.
The coming months will be, interesting. Rick has a useful purpose in this process.
At the very least he has kept the Mittiot from waving yet another victory flag as if his nomination were compulsory.

as long as you don’t support Romney or Obama you’ll do just fine.

Fortunately I can see further than March 1st…
The whole MINN/MO/CO event made such a ripple.
BTW, when does MO delegate?
Reality is spelled:
D E L E G A T E S

I support whoever has the better chance of beating Romney on a given day, but am not thrilled about either. I actually support Paul in a way since he is the only person on my ballot aside from Romney.

I, for one, wish you no ill will for your choice of candidate, or disdain for another candidate.

“BTW, when does MO delegate?”

It starts March 17th, and I think it concludes in June. Its a 3 step process I think, county first , then congressional district and then state convention.

I have never participated in a caucus before, but I will this year and it will be for Santorum.

The problem with Romney...and something the RNC is seeing now..is Mitt can’t win in the Midwest. I know. I grew up there. Typical scene from a few years back in the Midwest:

Boys (knock-knock): “Well hello maam, can we have a few minutes of your time to talk to you?”

Maam: “Well sure young fellas..you look nice..it must be hot out there on those bicycles..let me see if I have any lemonade in the ice box....what do you want to talk about anyway?”

Boys: “Well maam, we’re from the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saint’s..the Mormons” (smiling)

DOOR SLAM!

....Forget the Midwest Mitt...ain’t gonna happen.

Romney 92
Santorum 44
Gingrich 29
Paul 8

I can’t believe that creep Romney has 92 delegates. Hopefully after Super Tuesday, Santorum will be in first place. He might even get Texas as he is there today and had a packed group listening to him.
