Shortly after noon today, President Barack Obama is expected to announce that religious employers will not have to cover birth control for their employees. His anticipated compromise solution may or may not quell the objections of those who considered the new requirement to be an attack on religious freedom. But regardless of the immediate concerns about this particular provision of the president's health care law, it is indisputable that any concession he might make is the result of a political backlash that threatened his chances at reelection. This begs the question once set free from concerns over his own job security, will this president ever reject a federal power grab in favor of religious freedom or any other of those pesky liberties afforded by the Constitution?

This will change within days should he be re-elected.
Obama worships abortion.
Zero needs a 2nd term abortion....
Obama will take off his mask and reveal his true self; but the stupid elite and obots will still sing his tunes while digging their own graves.
America as we know it will cease to exist.
OMG - obama must go!
Vote against obama no matter what!
Even with a Rino pres we have a chance to salvage America.
With the lawless obozo there we are totally finished!
Isn’t it better to have a chance than to lose all hopes?
He will reinstate Nov 2012
He will reinstate Nov 2012
Steve Doocy this morning mentioned that last summer lefty blogs were talking about using this very issue as a way to energize the base.
That makes sense. For Obama it is all political--and he has utter contempt for people's religious beliefs.
Watched a bit of the MSM coverage this morning--for them it's a women's rights issue and they think it will work to Obama's advantage in the election.
i have a mental image of the ralph fiennes character in ‘shindlers list’ practicing in the mirror ‘pardoning’ one of the victims in the camp,
How about this glimpse. How may current Supreme Court Justices were born in the 30’s. Do you think any retirments are on the horizon? THAT alone will destroy us for at least two generations!
A lot of the criticism of Obama comes from progressives who are upset with him for not going further in his transformation. The will eventually vote for Obama’s second term. America, as we know it, will not survive. One our constitution is gone, it will stay gone. We will either have factions competing for power and disinterested in any “rights” or constitutions that limit their power over the masses or we will have an autocratic progressive dictatorship.
This is a true statement. And coupled with the rejection of the Keystone pipeline, it truly boggles the mind why he would do these things.
Is it possible that those who have claimed Obama was merely a puppet of Soros, or of some other powerful handlers, were right, and that Obama has been told not to run for a second term? Perhaps those who brought him to power know something on him that gives them power over him?
This would explain why he's doing the things he's doing. Obama is suddenly acting as if this IS his second term.
Since the Ossowatomie speech, in which he completely came out of the closet as a socialist, his every utterance and his every action has smacked of desperation. Let's remember that there is still time for Obama to step down and for a viable Democrat to be nominated-Lyndon Johnson announced he wouldn't run on March 31, 1968.
It simply does not compute that the decision to nix the Keystone pipeline was done to curry favor with the enviros when the same action resulted in dissing the unions and everyone who buys gasoline. The decision to blatantly draw swords with the Catholic Church is also politically suicidal.
No, these are the actions of someone who believes he has a very small window in which to impose his will.
The oppulent vacations at politically inopportune times is also an indication that he and Michelle plan to enjoy the trappings of being President and First Lady as much as they possibly can before pulling an LBJ and bowing out.
