The author is beyond hope if she really believes any cancer group truly wants to eliminate whatever cancer they are fighting. They are fundraisers. If theres a cure for cancer what does that do to a ton of people and companies, economically?
I said something similar; along the lines that if a cure for cancer was ever found it would likely be suppressed. A cure would eliminate millions of dollars for all those involved in treating/fighting cancer. My mother said I was too cynical. Perhaps so.

Not only cancer groups.
Drug companies that make cancer and chemo meds. Drug companies that make meds to offset the effects of cancer drugs. Hospitals that treat a lot of cancer patients. Cancer surgeons. Companies that make supplies for cancer patients. There’s enormous industry built around cancers of all kinds. They can’t expect to sustain themselves if a cure is discovered and made available to people.
