... A childs mother sent the kid, a preschooler mind you, to school with a turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips and apple juice.
Is there any conceivable grounds here for government intervention? No? Think again.

I have no idea what you’re talking about.
I am much more concerned with the extreme punitive level of control government now has, at all levels, than some poster or blog you happen to be angry at.
You do realize that landsbaum’s “blog” is not his, right? He’s a business writer for a major metro daily called the Orange County Register. The blog is owned by Freedom Communications, not Landsbaum. I know, I used to work for them too.
Lighten up, Francis.
We’re all concerned, as are you.
However, some of us actually pay for FR to stay online.
We don’t appreciate people who only use FR as a thread dumping ground to pimp their blogs.
It’s a legitimate concern for those of us who pay the bills.
We’ll speak up when we like. It’s not your choice, though you can simply ignore us.
He’s using FR for free advertising for his blog. Our donations pay for his free advertising. Let him come and reply if he likes.
Gee what if the kid was Muslim and was packing a halal food lunch? Would government food Nazis have forced the kid to eat infidel food? Would that be any different than mandating Catholic institutions provide insurance that pays for birth control or abortion???
Larry:
It’s. Not. His. Blog.
All the man does is draw a salary. He works for a newspaper. The newspaper isn’t interested in hits. It’s just a service. He doesn’t get money for hits.
As a student of the History of the republic not really. Almost the entire 20th Century has been a rush to consolidate power in DC. To achieve this the Constitution was twice amended - popular election of Senators and the Federal Income tax. There was only one amendment in the 20th century that put a curb on this centralization of power - the one that limited Presidents to two elected terms because FDR broke tradition and ran for the Presidency 4 times. Sorry but potentially 16 years in office effective makes the President a monarch regardless of orientation.
What we are seeing is the logical outgrowth of “Zero Tolerance” and “We have to pass the bill to find out what is in it”.
If I were “King for the Day” I would amend the Constitution to limit the size of all bills. They could be no longer that the Declaration of Independence. If the concepts behind the bill can not be articulated in a few words we probably don't need it.
He writes a blog for the site. And he’s using FR as a dumping ground for one-sentence excerpts of every blog he writes.
He is self-aggrandizing himself on our dime while being inordinatly stingy on his contributions here. The very definition of a blog pimp, regardless of how you pretty it up.
I thought I would look at some of the local reporting on this story rather than what is put out by alarmist blogs. It sounds like the story here contains some elements that are true and others that are false or exaggerated.
Hey Mug, nice screen name. :)
GMTA and all that...
Okay, point taken.
