BREAKING: Every Single Bishop Has Condemned the Obama/HHS Mandate!
CatholicVote.org ^ | 02/16/2012 | Thomas Peters

From Miami, Florida to Seattle, Washington–

Every single Roman Catholic bishop in the United States has condemned in public the Obamacare HHS mandateall 180 bishops who lead dioceses in the U.S. have spoken.

This is a simply incredible, unified, universal Catholic witness on this critical issue of religious freedom.

(To those wondering about my methodology, it is now negative instead of positive — I am no longer able to find a single Roman Catholic bishop who has NOT spoken out against the mandate publicly. It is also my presumption that this conclusion applies to all Eastern Rite and Sui Iuris bishops in the U.S.).

That’s great and everyone needs to pile on der Fuehrer and the democrats over this.

There is a however, however.

These are the same catholic bishops who as a whole supported obama and his “Hope and Change” and who are now upset that he lied to them as he did to the rest of us.

Who you support and how you vote can bite you in the ass, as they are finding out.

Well, this just makes it all that much more attractive to Obama and his mindless followers.

It was great to hear that my own denomination (LCMS), Eastern Orthodox, Baptists, and Orthodox Jews also stood with the Roman Catholic Church in protesting this unconstitutional violation of religious liberty, at the Congressional hearing this afternoon.

I think all these groups tend to be sleeping giants, but I hope and pray that we all are awake now, and that we can rouse the consciences of all our people as well.

Awesome.

And they will have full support from non-Catholics who are pro-Constitution and pro-freedom.

This might matter if there were any Catholics that remotely cared about any political statements by Bishops. I don’t know any.

What.... And liberals care? This sadly is a non issue when discussed and debated as a “contraception” mandate.

I have heard few voices that are debating what this actually has become. An all powerful dictatorship making unconstitutional mandates.

The polling is trending towards the bishops. Look up CNN, Pew, and Rasmussen.

I think we also need to be asking whether Obama’s “science czar” has already put sterilants or abortifacients in the drinking water or basic food staples, as he has claimed would be justified for the government to do.

These people are tyrants, and people need to realize exactly what they are about.

The reason for the unity is that this is coming from the top.

“On January 19, Pope Benedict addressed bishops from the District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, the U.S. Archdiocese for the Military Services, and the Virgin Islands. These U.S. bishops were in Rome for their periodic “ad limina” visits, which included meetings with the pope and Vatican officials, covering a wide range of pastoral matters.

His words provide some sober reflection for us. As is usually the case, I would like to provide excerpts of the Pope’s remarks from a CNS News Article and then present my own comments in red.

Pope Benedict XVI warned visiting U.S. bishops that “radical secularism” threatens the core values of American culture, and he called on the church in America, including politicians and other laypeople, to render “public moral witness” on crucial social issues.”

-Msgr Charles Pope
