The Cough Drop Mandate

Regardless of how important birth control may be for you personally, it has all of the health necessity of a cough drop. Mandating that insurance providers pay for cough drops sounds ridiculous, and it is. But what’s the difference between paying for that and paying for birth control, which can be cheaply purchased in its most common form and provides an equally non-essential service to overall health? (Krugman, let me save you the trouble of catching my subliminal messaging: Halls, the GOP militia is coming for you next.)

I thought this was an interesting way to put President Obama's latest dictatorial mandate. I don't care if it's the insurance providers, the church, or Disney World, I agree with the original poster when he says that contraception should be paid for by the user. Can't wait to throw this guy out in November.

Who is this man that he can mandate that companies who are in business to make money, give things away for free. This is not the Soviet Union. He cannot get away with this arrogance if the people involved just ignore him. Do not give away these items and services for free. He can not do anything if people uniformly just resist. He can stand there stating that we must. It means nothing if people in business just say no, we are not giving these goods and services away for nothing.

Please people, resist. Say no to his mandate. Do not acquiesce. Hold firm and we will win. Knuckle under and we are lost.

The funds raised in these FReepathons go to pay our current quarter expenses. But we're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little extra now, if we can, and the rest next quarter.

A cough drop treats a health problem, in a very modest way: I stop coughing for a while when I’ve taken one, although Vick’s Vapo-Rub is more effective.

Birth control pills mess up a healthy body.

I use the Alcohol Mandate.

Alcohol leads healthily evolved humans to copulate. Both drinking and copulating are pleasurable— and preventable— activities.

Might as well demand that our employers provide us with a Temperance League to keep us from drinking and drunk-texting and losing our job.

LOL! I’d probably have fewer children without alcohol, but I like the children as much as I like the wine, so it’s all good.

I’ve never had a drunk-texting incident, but I did put pictures of myself in my pajamas on FR one New Year’s Eve ...

Large pink flannel pajamas, with cows on them. My mom gave them to me ... she was making an implied snide comment about breastfeeding ;-).

Since I now have a “right” to free contraceptives, where can I go to get my free guns since I have a “right” to bear arms?

it was my pleasure to add a donation the other day. I get all my news here, I can’t even imagine trying to find it elsewhere. Thank you, Jim, for providing this forum for us.

And further, as I heard on Rush today and on this forum via some polls, Americans aren’t exactly jumping up and down demanding that birth controls be given away for free by health insurers.

If we could get some pubs on the Sunday political shows pointing this out loudly the concept, missed over the hollering about the freedom of religion thing, that all of a sudden this administration is giving away birth control pills while cancer victims pay a fortune for chemotherapy and diabetics get hit with thousands of bucks for insulin injections.

This is probably one of the biggest missteps of this administration and we need the lily-livered elected pubs beating on it.

birth control, which can be cheaply purchased in its most common form

In quantity for about a quarter apiece.

Even the most studly guy in the world would find it challenging to break a budget at that rate.
