Voting Equals Russian Roulette

You ever get that feeling that no matter who you vote for, it's not going to matter? That no matter who you vote for, your job won't get any better, gas prices will still go up, and life will still be hard? Is it ever annoying to feel that no matter what grand promises are given by a politician, once in office, he or she may or may not do what they so grandiosely promised the voters?

That is partially why I believe voting in Democratic elections is like playing Russian Roulette. But before I give an in depth analysis of the subject, I think it would be helpful to review how one plays Russian Roulette. It's a game where a single bullet is placed into a revolver, the cylinder is spun and the muzzle is placed against the contestants head and the trigger is pulled. There is a one in six chance that the trigger-pull will be the last thing the contestant remembers. It's a lethal game.

Voting for whom to run our government can be just as lethal. Why can it be just as lethal? Government is power and force. The government can force everyone throughout society to pay more taxes, send people off to war and ultimately interfere completely in an individual's life. Government has that power. But that doesn't mean it will use that power to such an extreme. However, the possibility to interfere in everyday life is still there, no matter what checks and balances are placed on that power. For those unfortunate souls who run afoul of that power, it is very real and potentially deadly.
