Why is Glee So Gay?

Okay, so Im a sucker for show tunes and glam rock.
Yes, I enjoy the amazing talent of Idina Menzel in the Broadway hit Wicked. Absolutely, I am left awestruck after hearing the wonderful scores of Claude-Michel Schönberg in Les Mis. And lets not even dispute the fact that Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, along with the rest of the folks in Fleetwood Mac are actually seraphim sent from the very throne of God to give us the eleventh commandment, which is dont stop thinking about tomorrow.
If all of that makes me less of a man, then men need to do some serious introspecting.
So when Glee, the show that perfectly captures what it is like to go to high school in the Midwest (on another planet) hit the airwaves, 12 year old girls swooned, high school Glee Club members rejoiced, and music fans like me now had to try to figure out how we could get away from our friends for an hour a week, with the doors locked and the blinds pulled, to indulge in a little show tunage without them really knowing we were watching Glee.

You don't have to be gay to enjoy show tunes.
But you do have to be gay to watch "Glee."

My 22 year old daughter watches this show. I have no idea what she gets out of it as I have never seen it and never will.
I cancelled my cable 2 months ago and don’t miss it at all.

It's pro-gay indoctrination under the guise of entertainment. My fourteen year old daughter wanted to watch if, after one episode it was blocked from my TV, much too the protests of my teenage children.

Dr. Rick Marshall: The machine, I mean, not A Chorus Line. I love showtunes, they really tell the story of the human condition.
Holly Cantrell: It's a bit gay.
Dr. Rick Marshall: It IS great.

A better question is why do we call homosexuals “Gay”?
Wouldn’t they be better described as “angries”?

I train a teenage boy as one of my clients. It turns out he loves watching Glee with his parents and he doesn’t have a girlfriend.
Tell me he doesn’t sound a bit gay. And that’s how the homosexual agenda works. =( They normalize their perversion and make you expect it as if its normal.
Glee is an awful show I can’t help but /SMH at every time I pass it by while channel surfing.

I took his advice and did some serious introspecting.........what are some of the indicators of homosexuality?.....like the tunes from OKLAHOMA?......not necessarily gay......let Barney Frank ride you like the plastic pony in front of the grocery store......I’d say that would definitely make you gay......just my opinion....

My 23 year old daughter who has done some theater stopped by the other night and wanted to watch Glee. I've only watched bits and pieces before, but after watching one whole episode it was obvious that it's main theme is the promotion of accepting gay as "normal". After talking with her about that, I had to admit to myself that I too was being pulled into the deception by a couple of shows that I watch regularly. ABC's The Middle, with the gay friend of the daughter, Modern Family with the gay couple with an adopted child, and Happy Endings with the gay friend in the main cast group all are either subtley or directly pushing the "gay is normal" agenda. I have been reflecting on my watching habits since. It is very easy to become the frog in the slowly heated pot.
To: blueunicorn6
3 of the central characters are gay and one of the central characters has gay parents.
It’s ridiculous.
Steven Speilberg’s SMASH is another alternative for a music show.

Isn’t that point, of articles like this, perception management? In other words, my revulsion to an aberration such as this is not normative behaviour? Will the hilarity never stop?

"this is a pretty accurate spread of high school; you know, that time before we all had to actually take care of ourselves and when we somewhat cared about what other people thought" Pretty much describes it in Reality.. self-identification issues: being overweight, single parent, pregnancy issues, physically challenged, the geek..etc.. Not so much about the football player and the cheerleader anymore "the popular kids". But they were out partying, having sex, overdosing on socially accepted stimulants. The Glee kids were always there; but no one really talked about as having worth in society. Some of them might be described as misfits that didnt get invited to those popular parties; but were gifted with musical talent. All kids just want to get through high school school, college and/or on to a career.

I have been reflecting on my watching habits since. It is very easy to become the frog in the slowly heated pot. That's another thing that bugs me, how every show HAS to have a gay character now, even if it doesn't really fit the premise of the show. I'm 38 years old, through my college years, my job and personal life, I can only think of three openly gay individuals I have known (although there are a handful more I suspect may have been "in the closet" or at least did feel the need to scream their sexuality from the rafters). But, still that's only 1% or 2% of the friends, coworkers, relatives and acquaintances I have had over the years. Yet, If you just arrived here from another planet and turned on the TV, you would think that gays make up at least 30% of the population.

A better question is why do we call homosexuals Gay? Wouldnt they be better described as angries? The word "queer" -- in all its meanings -- seems applicable.
But they seem to welcome that word now.
I could go with "derangedconfusednarcissisticmiserableselfloathingsinners" but it's a little unwieldy...

The show's creator, Ryan Murphy, the guy who created Nip Tuck and An American Horror Story is gay. So is Jane Lynch. And more than one of the teenagers most likely is too. And the kid in the wheelchair -- can walk! What's up with that?

Glee is not so much a TV show as it is a franchise aimed at the High School Musical crowd. There have already been touring Glee shows. I expect to see Glee on Ice in the near future.
That many gays find it attractive is more of a commentary on the shallowness that exists in that world, IMO.

In the dark confines of the 3 AM fits of sleeplessness he now found familiar, Ward wondered if he had been a bit hard on the Beaver earlier that day.

I agree with your sentiment. I love musicals and wish they would make a comeback.
But I am hetero...let’s put it this way “Mickey D’s is not the only one with the motto ‘Billions Served’”
I love theater and musicals and did a lot of it in my early years and I still miss it. Ocasionally I get the chance to do a production at church and I always jump on it. Last one was an opera based on Revelation. Outstanding.

It is very easy to become the frog in the slowly heated pot.
That's exactly what all this is about. Getting more and more people to publicly declare that it's perfectly normal for two guys who routinely sodomize each other to be considered the moral equivalent of husband and wife--and worse, that we should hand over orphaned children to them.
