“Taxes Are what You Pay for the Privilege of Being an American” Says Geithner
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 24 Feb 2012 | John Semmens

Posted on 02/26/2012 1:05:13 PM PST by John Semmens

US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner advised taxpayers to “quit complaining, taxes are what you pay for the privilege of being an American.”

“You know, there are places in the world where the government can take everything you have,” Geithner observed. “The fact that you get to keep anything here ought to inspire a greater appreciation for your own government’s forbearance.”

The Secretary warned those he called the “one-percenters,” that “government is the only thing preventing the other 99% from murdering you and looting your property. The protection we offer ought to be worth whatever it costs. Quibbling over the price of this protection may be an unwise course.”

So are we to assume that 49.5 of non tax paying citizens are not afforded the privileges extended to tax paying Americans?

Sheesh!

Didn't The Won actually say something to that effect a couple of years ago?

Something like "I'm the only one standing between you and the mobs."?

“Taxes Are what You Pay for the Privilege of Being an American”

No. My privilege is of being an American born of 2 American citizens.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights PROTECTS us from people like you....although, we the people haven't been doing a very good job at keeping it that way.

Something evil is coming our way. We all know it, we all feel it.

In the end, it will be up to US, THE PEOPLE, to stop this evil.

Nope-—there are essential taxes which are Constitutional—but any taxes for their numerous unconstitutional programs are not legal by our Supreme Law of the Land. That we pay for Czars and bureaucracies is tyranny and an enslavement of the citizens—when We the People have the supreme right to private property and the products of our labors-—government has no right to tax that at all. NONE....it is unconstitutional and a Communist law-—to redistribute the wealth. It is antithetical to the ideas of the Constitutional Republic.

I realize this is satire, but many Leftists moon bats do believe that citizens, particularly the Evil Rich, should happily fork over at least 50% of their income because the government is responsible for their success and safety.

It’s obvious when looking at the rich and famous, including Leftist politicians, their security is a result of paying body guards with guns to protect them. The rest of us are either armed or are sitting ducks.

Not satire. Ya take away or reduce governments punitive demand for more and more money and ya take away/reduce their escalating control and power.

This is why government continues to expand and grow, instead of reducing/limiting their spending/size of government, which results in constant demands for more taxes/money/control, passing more laws/regulations.

This is not difficult or complex to understand.

Taxes are what you pay for the privilege of being an American

Gee, this could have been a quote from King George the Third.

This guy and his Big-Government Leftist buddies have it backwards - "We the people" created the federal government. "We the people" are freemen, not slaves and the federal government is limited by the Constitution which "we the people" created. Mr. Geithner, welcome to America (maybe). In America, "We the people" are the masters under God and government is our servant. We're the employer, you're the employee.

"We the people" allow YOU to tax for the wages of the privilege of running a LIMITED government. Your first job has been mainly to protect the states from foreign invaders which you have failed miserably to do in the last 50 years. (We should have been fired you by now.)

The price we pay to be Americans is not between you and us but between us and our God who gave us our freedom to begin with. Freedom has a price and there are no guarantees. We have to work hard for our freedom especially because there are no guaranteed outcomes. Freedom is daunting and difficult and can be scary, but there's nothing better on earth, this side of Heaven. That's the price we and generations before us have paid to be Americans and many people have died to get here and pay that price because of their "yearning to breathe free."

What you're really saying Mr. Geithner, is government wants us to exchange the price we pay for the uncertainties of our freedom and instead pay government for taking away our freedom with its uncertainties.

"We the people" decline the invitation and are willing to fight you and yours to keep our freedom and cut the federal government down to it's Constitutional size where it can get back to the work WE hired it to do. We'll pay you REASONABLE, FLAT, ONE-TIME ONLY taxes as your wages for staying within your employment contract, THE CONSTITUTION.

Is paying no taxes if you earn a modest living also one of the privileges of being an American.

No wonder everyone across the world wants to come here—most pay no taxes on income and the perks are free.
