Late last year, a Florida court used Sharia law to decide a case it was considering. This set off a firestorm of dissent, even reaching the studios of Fox News, where Eric Bolling opined on The Five that if this sets precedent, there [may well] be a day where a judge says, By the way, under Sharia law, you ripped off, you stole that thing over there. We need to cut your left hand off.
Then last week, the Florida House Judiciary Committee approved HB 1209, an anti-Sharia bill, by a 14-1 vote. In January, the Florida House Civil Justice Subcommittee voted 13-0 in its favor and the Florida Senate Judiciary Committee gave its 6-0 blessing to its companion bill, SB-1360. Because of the Florida Legislatures bold move, its now come under fire from both the American Civil Liberties Union and the Council on American Islam Relations.

This goes to show that the price of freedom os eternal vigilance.
PING TO THE END TIMES LIST
ENCROACHING demonic Sharia law . . . ping
Amen to that! Glad that Florida is being vigilant on this one!
Oklahoma voters passed a similar law only to have a judge overrule it
Two things:
1. Sharia law and the US constitution are like oil and water. They are completely incompatible and based on completely opposite core principles.
2. Why is the ACLU not applauding this decision that protects the concept of separation of church and state that they so love?
All the SCOTUS should ever care about is the constitution. All the other courts should care about is US laws within their jurisdiction and the constitution. Shariah law is not part of either. Nor are other countries - nor the international community’s - laws.
How in the hell can civil liberties partain to sharia law in any way? Sharia is focally counter to liberty.
Hahahahaha! to the Flori-duh remark! It’s truly wondrous what a GOP House, Senate, Governor and Cabinet can do. I just hope we can hold on to it! Thanks!
Oh man, I’m gonna have nightmares worrying about that!
Wow! You just managed to say in a few sentences what it took me a full article to write! Well put!
Exactly!
Good for Florida.
The bill (HB 1209) passed the full House Thursday 92-24 and was sent to the Senate for final passage. Likely will come up Monday for a vote.

14 to 1, you say?
Who was the “1” and if they are still on the committee, why?
Thanks for the ping!
At least my state got something right.
