Big Sis Monitoring Your Tweets/FB Posts When You Use Words on DHS Watchlist
Reaganite Republican ^ | March 7, 2012 | Reaganite Republican

Hot words/terms on the Department of Homeland Security
online social media watch-list can get you monitored...

According to a DHS document, the snoopy agency is maintaining an arm-long list of what they call 'Items Of Interest', categorized by subject, i.e. 'Domestic Security', 'Southwest Border Violence', etc. These are the specific words/terms contractors have been hired to monitor online, abbreviated to 'I.O.I' by the DHS.

And while you might expect them to keep an eye on those posting more than a passing mention of terms like 'Al Qaida', 'weapons cache', 'jihad', 'massacre', according to the DHS order far more mundane/widely-utilized words can also bring the watchful eye of the agency if posted on Twitter or Facebook, i.e.-

airport
electric
smart
bridge
sick
gas
cloud
mud slide or mudslide
canceled
interstate
recovery
aid
home grown
marijuana

Nothing like ECHELON or CARNIVORE. From that list, AK-47, grenade, IED, trigger, plutonium, C-4, blasting caps, and a host of other hit parade favorites wouldn't even trip a flag.

But I'd bet "Jesus, cake walk, apple pie, baseball, and gold" would pop up on their radar.

The sad part is that this is a tremendous waste of resources and money on the people who are not a threat to America, even if the current administration gets nervous.

We're going to vote the b@stards out.

Is that the entire list? It could be the better part of Janet’s vocabulary.

Correct, but they never focus on the "bad guys", much less stop them.

I recently deactivated my Facebook account and have never once been on Twitter. In part, I am concerned about security issues, but mostly just grew tired of being sent unsolicited emails by creepy people I didn't know.

But after I canceled my social media account, I was driving down an interstate highway on the way to the airport, and somewhere between Tuscon and San Diego I went over a bridge and passed a 18-wheeler hauling pork bellies. Later, opening my laptop, I couldn't help but notice the symptoms of what I took to be a home-grown computer infection that seemed to spread like some weird, sick cloud of gas. It wasn't a single incident, but kind of like an mudslide in the electrical system, and no, I wasn't smoking marijuana. Now, I'm smart enough to know that my computer was not infected by websites in China or North Korea, or I'd certainly call for police aid if I thought it were. But even now, I'm still looking for some path to recovery. Maybe I ought to call Janet Napolitano for help.

They actually track the ones going back across the border, I hear.
I think they want to stop that. They need the votes.

They track movement across the border both ways. But unfortunately they consider the incoming a plus and the outgoing a minus. (vote count)

Illegals often vote in our elections in South Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. But it is politically correct, we cannot discriminate because of “race” (even if they are racists like La Raza) I feel sick talking about it. This is not about race but about illegals who want to make the U.S. like Mexico and some Latin American hell holes.

We used to start phone conversations with a few ECHELON/CARNIVORE keywords just for the fun of it.
