Only in America ...
That woman will go through that 700K in under 2 years.
She’ll lose both homes and the car by this time next year.
and lose both houses. I also bet the homes will be run down or destroyed. But she will probably have a few more piercings and tattoos to show for it all.
State, local and federal governments are broke, so why instead of cutting the size and spending of government, does government become involved in gambling schemes?
I have the feeling that whatever entity (local/state/federal govt) provides her food stamps will see this differently. I am pretty sure she is required to tell them of any change in her ‘circumstances,’ and $700K is a change in most people’s circumstances.
Until she spends all that $700K, which likely won’t be long, her assets would be too high to qualify for food stamps unless she puts the bulk of it into buying a house. I think a house/car are exempt.
It’s not real money, it’s Obama’s stash. It’s for us.
She should be arrested. She should have reported the change in income, so basically she’s committed welfare fraud.
I used to do audits in centers. You wouldn’t believe the multiple wives that got benefits. I bet that’s why Michigan let’s people get away with it.
Don’t you need a social security number to get it or just ID?
They need a serious housecleaning in Michigan.
I thought this was wrong at first, until I learned she paid around $300k in taxes. Kind of seems fair... just sayin.
Actually, interviews with state legislatures came to the conclusion that she is doing nothing illegal. However, they are currently rushing to add legislation that if a person on ‘Bridge’ gains more in a year than 1,000 on lottery or gambling winnings they have to report it as income. apparently when the Bridge benefits were written, gambling gains were not taken into consideration. At least this lady’s rapacity will yield expedited legislation that will abate the tax paying public’s anger.
Something is not being reported in this story.
In most states, Food Stamps are denied to people under 60 years of age who have more than $3000 in assets, excluding their home and car.
The games are skewed toward the house.
It's like casinos. Sure, some folks leave with more than they came in with, but on average, the house rake on a slot machine is 30% (some more, some less) of every dollar fed in...
Big winners are great advertisement to bring in a multitude of 'small' losers.
>> this woman apparently feels no shame in being on the government dole
It’s a mentality the Democrats have worked hard at fostering. Impressive, no?
If you’re gonna play, play craps.
This story is about the size of the winnings and the resultant black eye for the state. If they were serious about this and the ultimate goal should be food aid going for food and not lottery tickets then they would have been scanning the rolls far sooner. The loss of benefits for a few months after winning $1000 would deter at least a few people from gambling. The state (all of them really) have known all along that people are using aid money in this way. They never cared because it cycled the money right back to the state.
They need a serious housecleaning in Michigan.... They will NOT do that. Have to justify their jobs and all that. The government set up booths at county fairs to have people stop by and apply for welfare, food stamps, etc. in PA a few years ago. The head of DPW told her people to “Qualify, don’t verify.” any applicant.
So I hear, but I’ve done better at nickel KENO and five card draw. I’m not much of a gambler, though.
$300k in taxes?
SELL the 2 damned house; get a condo, Bank or stash the money, idiot b!tch! (Sorry for that, this early in the morning...)
