Kony 2012 And The Explosion In Social Media
Grand Rants ^ | 03-09-12 | Gerry Ashley

Imagine you come upon a child under 10 years old who, along with his friends, is in obvious distress. Now imagine, when you ask that child what you can do to help him, he turns to you and says, with all seriousness, “It is better if you can kill us…”

What in the name of all that is holy could cause a child that young so much stress and fear in his life, that given a choice, he would have you kill him as an act of kindness?

Meet Jacob, the unsuspecting star of Youtube’s most viral video to date (It’s closing in on 50 million views).

Through the new social medias (blogs, Facebook, Twitter etc.) intercommunication between people representing all nationalities, races, religions etc. has opened up possibilities limited only by our imaginations. The imagination of a young man named Jason Russell has initiated what may be the most ambitious yet potentially controversial experiment involving this emerging application of technology. The goal? To bring down the man who, according to the International Criminal Court in The Hague tops their list of the world’s worst criminals. His name: Joseph Kony. His crime? Abducting thousands of children and forcing them to become soldiers in his rebel army.

For over 20 years, children in central Africa like Jacob have lived in fear of being captured by the Kony’s rebel army. The second goal is to reunite thousands of young children with their parents. The deadline? THIS YEAR. And, although it might sound crazy, they might just pull it off.

Thanks for the quick quotes and link compilation - people would be fools to take all this concern about Uganda at face value since all the usual leftist suspects are lining up to cheerlead it. Something else is in the works under the radar.

Kony is a real creep, but a symptom of the problems in African culture and political culture. The communists have been the ones that talk and are “allowed” to talk about it, as their solution is pillage wealthy western countries.

The video? How incredibly precious. How special.

It’s a video about the videographer, a classic Narcissist, and his Self-Object son, Gavin, who will become - as sure as a bean seed becomes a bean - a classic Narcissist himself.

I have mixed views on this Kony video thing. It has a "Occupy Wallstreet" protest feel to it, but unlike the silly OWS freaks, it is a good cause.

I think getting rid of evil people is a worthwhile investment, but we shouldn't bankrupt ourselves doing it. Find the SOBs location and use a drone strike or drop a bomb on him.

And do you think for one second the lefties would care if Kony headed the “Atheists’ Resistance Army.” Heck, they’d probably support him.

As most people know by now this charity is not worth supporting and Mr. Kony is no longer a real threat. Please use this as a lesson to all your friends on social media that they need to check their facts before falling in behind any cause either charitable or political.

Cheers

My teenage son said that the videographer seemed a little light in the Loafers and wondered where the mom was, and who stays with Gavin when the video “dad” is off romping around Africa.

It all seems strange. BTW, I read that over 70% of the donations are pocketed by the video dude. It seems he has found a pretty slick way to cash in.

Anyhow, that Kony guy needs to die. I was a little put off by the repeated references to arresting him.

It’s funny that the folks who are pushing the hardest for us to “do something” about this are the same ones that whine and complain whenever we “do something” in any other country. They don’t want us to mess with Iran because it has oil and stability in the region would help us, Uganda on the other hand has no valuable resources at all so clearly we should clean that mess up.

We saw the same thing during what Tony Blair referred to as “The First Progressives’ War”, Kosovo......the media portrayed Slobodan Milosevic and the greatest monster, since Adolf Hitler.

If I’m not mistaken, that critical race theory is simply Locate Kyle Busch and run him into the wall. But hey, I could be wrong on that. But that was Jeff Gordon’s advice.

This man’s opinion is right on.

There are many examples of the Africans in Uganda objecting to this:

In my opinion, this whole business is designed to justify the Obama Administration getting involved in these countries.

Remember several months ago, he sent 100 “advisers” to seek out Kony and we have never heard about them again. The problem is, Kony has not been in Uganda for many years. He is operating out of the DRC and is not the problem he once was in Uganda.

My daughter lived in Gulu in Northern Uganda, and beliefs similar to mine - Conservative and Christian. She has stated that the Northern Ugandans detest this organization and others like i. They are not helping. They are hurting. The outside NGOs, particularly the ones from the United Nations, have done the most damage.

This kids’ viral video is so wrong, because it speaks as if Kony is still in Uganda. He is long gone and Northern Uganda has been in relative peace for some time. There is no need to militarize Uganda, and it will bring suffering to a people who are trying to recover on their own, and doing quite well.

So why the support for this video, couched in terms of saving the Ugandans?

Just who is behind the making and spreading of this video?

I’ll bet it is Soros and the Tides foundation or some such organization created by those of their ilk.

I wish I had the resources to check this out.

It is another Obama fiasco in the making

It’s a complete bandwagon cluster.

People have been ripping the narrative this organization has been putting out, not to mention that most of the money this group collects never goes to help anyone.

Apparently it went to a slick video and fancy swag.

But in the age of the Facebook warrior, most people are too stupid to think and do some research. They just need to “express” their “outrage”... mainly for their “friends” online.

Why can’t these guys harness their energies towards say, exposing the Taliban in Afghanistan, or the other places in Africa, where Muzzies are terrorizing Christians?

Of course, we know why.
